Now when Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into an inner chamber, as if to speak with him privately. And there, to avenge the blood of his brother Asahel, Joab stabbed him in the stomach, and he died.

耶和華必使約押的血歸到他自己頭上，因為他擊殺兩個比他又公義又良善的人，就是尼珥的兒子以色列的元帥押尼珥和益帖的兒子猶大的元帥亞瑪撒，用刀殺了他們，我父親大衛卻不知道。

尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利和同他來的那十個人起來，用刀擊殺沙番的孫子，亞希甘的兒子基大利，就是巴比倫王所立為當地省長的，把他殺死。

「『暗中擊殺鄰舍的，必受詛咒！』眾百姓要說：『阿們！』

尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利從米斯巴出來迎接他們，隨走隨哭，遇見了他們，就對他們說：「你們可以到亞希甘的兒子基大利那裏。」他們到了城中，尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利和與他一起的人就把他們殺了，丟在坑裏。

亞撒黑追趕押尼珥，直追趕他不偏左右。押尼珥回頭說：「亞撒黑，是你嗎？」他說：「是我。」押尼珥對他說：「你轉左或轉右，去抓一個年輕人，剝去他的戰衣吧。」亞撒黑卻不肯轉開而不追趕他。押尼珥又對亞撒黑說：「轉開，不要再追我了！我何必把你擊殺在地上呢？我若殺了你，怎麼有臉見你哥哥約押呢？」亞撒黑仍不肯轉開，押尼珥就用回馬槍刺入他的肚腹，甚至槍從背後穿出，亞撒黑就仆倒在那裏，當場死了。眾人趕到亞撒黑仆倒而死的地方，就都站住。
