Now when Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into an inner chamber, as if to speak with him privately. And there, to avenge the blood of his brother Asahel, Joab stabbed him in the stomach, and he died.

耶和華要讓他血債血還。因為他背著我父親殺了兩名比他良善正直的人，即尼珥的兒子以色列元帥押尼珥和益帖的兒子猶大元帥亞瑪撒。

尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利和同來的十個人突然起來拔刀殺了巴比倫王委任管理猶大的沙番的孫子、亞希甘的兒子基大利，

『凡暗殺鄰居的必受咒詛！』全體民眾要回答說，『阿們！』

以實瑪利就從米斯巴出來迎接他們，邊走邊哭，見面後邀請他們去見亞希甘的兒子基大利。到了城中，以實瑪利和部下便屠殺他們，棄屍於蓄水池中。

他跟在押尼珥後面，不偏不離，窮追不捨。押尼珥回頭問道：「你是亞撒黑嗎？」亞撒黑說：「正是。」押尼珥說：「你去追趕別人，奪取他的兵器吧。」但亞撒黑還是窮追不捨。押尼珥又對他說：「快走開吧，非逼我殺你嗎？我若殺了你，還有何顏面見你哥哥約押呢？」但亞撒黑還是不肯甘休。押尼珥就用槍柄刺入他的肚腹，穿透了他的後背，他便倒地身亡。眾人趕到那裡，都停了下來。
