Now when Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into an inner chamber, as if to speak with him privately. And there, to avenge the blood of his brother Asahel, Joab stabbed him in the stomach, and he died.

耶和华要让他血债血还。因为他背着我父亲杀了两名比他良善正直的人，即尼珥的儿子以色列元帅押尼珥和益帖的儿子犹大元帅亚玛撒。

尼探雅的儿子以实玛利和同来的十个人突然起来拔刀杀了巴比伦王委任管理犹大的沙番的孙子、亚希甘的儿子基大利，

‘凡暗杀邻居的必受咒诅！’全体民众要回答说，‘阿们！’

以实玛利就从米斯巴出来迎接他们，边走边哭，见面后邀请他们去见亚希甘的儿子基大利。到了城中，以实玛利和部下便屠杀他们，弃尸于蓄水池中。

他跟在押尼珥后面，不偏不离，穷追不舍。押尼珥回头问道：“你是亚撒黑吗？”亚撒黑说：“正是。”押尼珥说：“你去追赶别人，夺取他的兵器吧。”但亚撒黑还是穷追不舍。押尼珥又对他说：“快走开吧，非逼我杀你吗？我若杀了你，还有何颜面见你哥哥约押呢？”但亚撒黑还是不肯罢休。押尼珥就用枪柄刺入他的肚腹，穿透了他的后背，他便倒地身亡。众人赶到那里，都停了下来。
