“ Good,” said David.“ I will make an agreement with you. But I demand one thing of you: Do not come into my presence unless you bring Michal daughter of Saul when you come to see me.”

“ Good,” said David.“ I will make a covenant with you. But there’s one thing I want you to do. Bring Saul’s daughter Michal to me. Don’t come to see me unless she’s with you.”

And he said,“ Good; I will make a covenant with you. But one thing I require of you; that is, you shall not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul’s daughter, when you come to see my face.”

“ All right,” David replied,“ but I will not negotiate with you unless you bring back my wife Michal, Saul’s daughter, when you come.”

David replied,“ Good, I will make a covenant with you. However, there’s one thing I require of you: You will not see my face unless you first bring Saul’s daughter Michal when you come to see me.”

And he said,“ Good! I will make a covenant with you, only I require one thing of you, namely, that you shall not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul’s daughter, when you come to see me.”

And David said,“ Good, I will make a covenant with you. But one thing I require of you: you shall not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul’s daughter, when you come to see my face.”

And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee; but one thing I require of thee: that is, thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal, Saul’s daughter, when thou comest to see my face.

David replied,“ Good, I will make a covenant with you. However, there’s one thing I require of you: Do not appear before me unless you bring Saul’s daughter Michal here when you come to see me.”

And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul’s daughter, when thou comest to see my face.

So David said,“ Good! I will make an agreement with you. I ask only one thing from you. You will not see my face unless you bring Saul’s daughter Michal when you come to visit me.”

Judah spoke to him, saying,“ The man solemnly warned us, saying,‘ You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’

You said to your servants,‘ Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will see my face no more.’

So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. David made Abner and the men who were with him a feast.Abner said to David,“ I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with you, and that you may reign over all that your soul desires.” David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.Behold, David’s servants and Joab came from a raid, and brought in a great plunder with them; but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he had gone in peace.When Joab and all the army who was with him had come, they told Joab,“ Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he has sent him away, and he has gone in peace.”

Saul sent messengers to David’s house, to watch him, and to kill him in the morning. Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying,“ If you don’t save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”So Michal let David down through the window. He went away, fled, and escaped.Michal took the teraphim, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head, and covered it with clothes.When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said,“ He is sick.”Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying,“ Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”When the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head.Saul said to Michal,“ Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” Michal answered Saul,“ He said to me,‘ Let me go! Why should I kill you?’”

Michal, Saul’s daughter, loved David; and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.Saul said, I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Therefore Saul said to David,“ You shall today be my son- in- law a second time.”Saul commanded his servants,“ Talk with David secretly, and say,‘ Behold, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you. Now therefore be the king’s son- in- law.’”Saul’s servants spoke those words in the ears of David. David said,“ Does it seem to you a light thing to be the king’s son- in- law, since I am a poor man, and little known?”The servants of Saul told him, saying,“ David spoke like this.”Saul said,“ Tell David,‘ The king desires no dowry except one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king’s enemies.’” Now Saul thought he would make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.When his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king’s son- in- law. Before the deadline,David arose and went, he and his men, and killed two hundred men of the Philistines. Then David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full number to the king, that he might be the king’s son- in- law. Then Saul gave him Michal his daughter as wife.Saul saw and knew that Yahweh was with David; and Michal, Saul’s daughter, loved him.

We said,‘ We can’t go down. If our youngest brother is with us, then we will go down: for we may not see the man’s face, unless our youngest brother is with us.’

As the ark of Yahweh’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
