Then Abner sent messengers on his behalf to say to David,“ Whose land is it? Make an agreement with me, and I will help you bring all Israel over to you.”

Then Abner sent messengers to David to speak for him. They said,“ Who will rule over this land? Make a covenant with me. Then I’ll help you bring all the Israelites over to your side.”

And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying,“ To whom does the land belong? Make your covenant with me, and behold, my hand shall be with you to bring over all Israel to you.”

Then Abner sent messengers to David, saying,“ Doesn’t the entire land belong to you? Make a solemn pact with me, and I will help turn over all of Israel to you.”

Abner sent messengers as his representatives to say to David,“ Whose land is it? Make your covenant with me, and you can be certain I am on your side to turn all Israel over to you.”

Then Abner sent messengers to David at his place, saying,“ Whose is the land? Make your covenant with me, and behold, my hand shall be with you to bring all Israel over to you.”

Then Abner sent messengers on his behalf to David, saying,“ Whose is the land?” saying also,“ Make your covenant with me, and indeed my hand shall be with you to bring all Israel to you.”

And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.

Abner sent messengers as his representatives to say to David,“ Whose land is it? Make your covenant with me, and you can be certain I am on your side to hand all Israel over to you.”

And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose[ is] the land? saying[ also], Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand[ shall be] with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.

Then Abner sent messengers to David saying,“ To whom does the land belong? Make an agreement with me, and I will do whatever I can to cause all Israel to turn to you.”

Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying,“ Whose is the land?” and saying,“ Make your alliance with me, and behold, my hand will be with you, to bring all Israel around to you.”

皆係武士、能守行伍、忠乃心、至希伯崙、欲立大闢為王、治以色列族、斯土餘民、亦同此心、與大闢偕、歷至三日、式飲式食、蓋其同宗曾備食物。附近者以薩迦、西布倫、納大利三族、以牛、驢、駝、騾、載圓饅、細麵、無花果餅、葡萄乾、及酒與油、亦有牛羊、俱攜之至、不可勝數、以色列族無不欣喜焉。

以色列族眾、集於希伯崙、見大闢曰、我儕與爾誼屬同宗。昔掃羅為王、治理我儕、爾導以色列族出入、爾之上帝耶和華云、爾必牧以色列族、為我民之長。以色列族長老、既至希伯崙、覲王大闢、於耶和華前、與之立約、長老以膏沐大闢、立為以色列族王、循耶和華命撒母耳之言。

斯世之人、由尊逮卑、咸尚虛妄、若權衡之、輕於呼吸之氣兮。

於是猶大人咸懷一心、遣使告王曰、請王與臣僕偕歸。

於是、凡負主債者、一一呼之來、語先至者曰、爾負幾何、曰、油百斗、曰、取券亟坐、書五十、語他人曰、爾負幾何、曰、麥百斛、曰、取券、書八十、主見不義操會所行、稱其巧、蓋此世之人、其為身謀、較光明之人、尤巧也、○

押尼耳謂大闢曰、我將往、集以色列族眾、歸於我主我王、與爾結約、使爾任意以治。大闢遣押尼耳安然以去。既往之後、約押偕大闢臣僕、大獲貨財、自陳而歸。

以色列族支派、咸至希伯崙、見大闢曰、我儕與爾誼屬同宗。昔掃羅為王、治理我儕、爾導以色列族出入、耶和華有應許曰、爾必牧以色列族、為我民之長。以色列族長老、既至希伯崙覲王、大闢與之立約、在耶和華前、長老以膏沐大闢、立為以色列王。

押尼耳至希伯崙、約押佯欲私語、導至邑門側、刺其腹、致之於死、以報殺弟亞撒黑之仇。

是愛敵憾友、不顧方伯臣僕也。今日我知、如押沙龍尚存、而我儕咸死、爾乃懽然。

以色列族之餘民見王、曰、我之同儕猶大人、以王與眷聚、爰及僕從、濟約但河、而私導之歸、曷故。猶大人語以色列族曰、王與我誼屬同宗、何因此而怒、我豈食王祿、受王餽者乎。以色列族曰、立王十二支派、我有其十、故我得王較爾應多、爾欲導王歸、曷藐視我、不先與我議乎。然猶大人之言、較以色列族尤厲。便雅憫族、庇革哩子示巴、兇暴人也。吹角告眾、曰、我與耶西之子大闢無與、以色列族各歸故幕可也。於是以色列族不從大闢、群從示巴。惟猶大人恆從大闢、自約但擁護至耶路撒冷、大闢至耶路撒冷、既入王宮、貶前所遺守宮嬪妃十人、幽於別室、供其養贍、不復進御、使若嫠婦以畢其生。王諭亞馬撒曰、限以三日、集猶大人、與爾偕至。亞馬撒往、欲集猶大人、已逾限期。大闢告亞庇篩曰、庇革哩子示巴必將貽害、尤甚於押沙龍、爾率爾兄之僕從、追襲其後、恐其入鞏固之城、我不能獲。約押之兵、與劊役皂隸、及眾英武、群從之、出耶路撒冷、以追示巴、至基遍之大磐、亞馬撒來迓、約押束衣繫紳、中挾利刃、猶藏於鞘、行時刃忽墜地。約押謂亞馬撒曰、我兄安乎。以右手接其髯、欲與接吻。亞瑪撒見約押拾刃、不以為意、約押刺之、腹洞腸流、毋庸再擊、已斃其命。約押及弟亞庇篩仍追庇革哩子示巴。亞馬撒偃仆途側、血污遍體、約押僕從中有一人、立而呼曰、欲助約押、尊大闢者、當從約押。見民至此而立、則移尸自大道至田野、掩之以布。於是民從約押、追庇革哩子示巴。

有眾以衣布道、或伐樹枝、布於途、前後眾庶呼曰、大闢之裔、萬福歟、托主名來者、當見寵也、在上者萬福矣、○耶穌入耶路撒冷時、舉城悚動曰、此為誰、
