and Ebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, even unto great Sidon;
And there was no deliverer, because it was far from Sidon, and they had no dealings with any man; and it was in the valley that lieth by Beth- rehob. And they built the city, and dwelt therein.And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first.
And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites that were therein.
So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the River, and set his face toward the mountain of Gilead.
Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;
And Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them unto great Sidon, and unto Misrephoth- maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.
And Laban called it Jegar- saha- dutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.And Laban said, This heap is witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed:
And Canaan begat Sidon his first- born, and Heth,
Asher drove not out the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob;
And the border of the children of Dan went out beyond them; for the children of Dan went up and fought against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.
