On that day Gad went to David and said to him,“ Go up and build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”

And Gad came that day to David and said to him,“ Go up, raise an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”

永恆主的使者吩咐迦得去告訴大衛、說大衛要上去、在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾場上為永恆主立座祭壇。大衛便照迦得的話、就是迦得奉永恆主的名所說的話、上去。那時阿珥楠正打麥子；阿珥楠一回頭，看見天使，跟着他的四個兒子就藏起來。大衛來到阿珥楠那裏，阿珥楠一看，見是大衛，就從禾場上出來，面伏於地，向大衛下拜。大衛對阿珥楠說：『請將這禾場的地址給我，我好在這上頭為永恆主築座祭壇；請按足額的價銀賣給我，使疫症可以被抑制住、不再流行於民間。』阿珥楠對大衛說：『你儘管取用好啦；願我主我王看怎麼好就怎麼作；看哪，我將牛給你做燔祭，有打糧的用具可以當柴燒，還有麥子可以做素祭：這一切我都送給你。』大衛王對阿珥楠說：『不；我一定要按足額的價銀向你買；我不拿屬你的東西來奉給永恆主，不獻上白得之物為燔祭。』於是大衛平了重六百舍客勒的金子給阿珥楠來換得那地址。就在那裏大衛就為永恆主築了一座祭壇，獻上燔祭和平安祭，呼求永恆主；永恆主就從天上降火在燔祭壇上應了他。永恆主對使者說了一聲，使者就收刀入鞘。那時大衛見永恆主在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾場上應了他，他就在那裏獻祭；（因為摩西在曠野所造永恆主的帳幕和燔祭壇那時候雖都在基遍的山丘上，只是大衛因為懼怕永恆主使者的刀，就不敢到那前面去尋問上帝）；

大衛早晨起來；永恆主的話傳與為大衛做先見者的神言人迦得，說：
