When David saw the angel who was striking down the people, he said to the Lord,“ I have sinned; I, the shepherd, have done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? Let your hand fall on me and my family.”

David spoke to Yahweh when he saw the angel who struck the people, and said,“ Behold, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand be against me, and against my father’s house.”

大衛數點軍兵之後，心中自責。大衛對耶和華說：「我做這事，犯了大罪！現在，耶和華啊，求你除去你僕人的罪孽，因我做了極其愚蠢的事！」

求你徹底洗滌我的罪孽，潔淨我的罪；因為我知道我的過犯，我的罪一直在我面前。我對你，唯獨對你犯了罪，我做了你眼中看為惡的事；因此你說話的時候就顯為公義，你審判的時候就顯為清正。看哪，我在罪孽裡出生；我母親懷胎時，我就在罪中！

他在木頭上，以自己的身體親自擔當了我們的罪孽，好使我們既然向罪而死，就能向義而活；因他受的鞭傷，你們得了痊癒。要知道，你們從前像是迷失的羊，但現在卻回到了你們靈魂的牧人和監督的身旁。

那時我說：「我有禍了，我要滅亡了！因為我是個嘴唇不潔淨的人，住在嘴唇不潔淨的民眾當中；又因為我親眼看見了大君王萬軍之耶和華。」

「我就是好牧人。好牧人為羊捨棄自己的生命；那雇來的不是牧人，羊也不是自己的，他看見狼來了，撇下羊就逃。這樣，狼就搶奪羊，把牠們驅散了。

現在，請你把僕人留下，代替那少年作我主的奴僕，讓那少年與他的哥哥們一同上去。

萬軍之耶和華宣告：「刀劍哪，醒來吧，攻擊我的牧人，攻擊我鄰近之人！擊打牧人，羊群就四散；我必轉手對付其中弱小的！」

你把我們交出，如同作食物的羊；你又把我們打散在列國中。
