The angel reached his hand out to destroy Jerusalem. But the Lord stopped sending the plague. So he spoke to the angel who was making the people suffer. He said,“ That is enough! Do not kill any more people.” The angel of the Lord was at Araunah’s threshing floor. Araunah was from the city of Jebus.

And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord relented from the calamity and said to the angel who was working destruction among the people,“ It is enough; now stay your hand.” And the angel of the Lord was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

你們要撕心般地悔改，而不是撕裂衣服。歸向你們的上帝耶和華吧，因為祂有恩典和憐憫，不輕易發怒，有無限的慈愛，不忍心降災禍。誰知道呢？或許祂轉念心生憐憫，給你們留下祝福，使你們可以再次向你們的上帝耶和華獻上素祭和奠祭。

就後悔在地上造了人，心裡傷痛，

因為耶和華要巡行各地，擊殺埃及人，祂看見你們的門框和門楣上有血，就必越過你們的家門，不讓滅命者進你們家殺人。

「我後悔立掃羅為王，因為他離棄了我，不遵守我的命令。」撒母耳很難過，整夜呼求耶和華。

希律沒有把榮耀歸給上帝，主的天使立刻懲罰他，他當場被蟲子咬死了。

當晚，耶和華的天使到亞述營中殺了十八萬五千人。人們清早起來，發現到處是屍體。

耶和華就差遣一個天使進入亞述王營中，毀滅了所有的勇士、官長和將領。西拿基立只好滿臉羞愧地返回自己的國家。趁他去他神明的廟裡時，他的幾個親生兒子用刀殺了他。

所羅門在耶路撒冷的摩利亞山上動工興建耶和華的殿，殿址在耶布斯人阿珥楠的麥場，就是大衛指定的地方。耶和華曾在那裡向他父親大衛顯現。

塗在你們房屋上的血是一個記號，我經過的時候，見到這血就會越過。我擊打埃及的時候，那災禍不會落到你們身上。

耶和華啊，我還要苦候多久呢？求你憐憫你的僕人。

因為耶和華必為祂的子民伸冤，憐憫祂的僕人。

這樣的人受了眾人的譴責也就夠了。

願他們的道路漆黑泥濘，有耶和華的天使在後追趕！

他的後代還有耶布斯人、亞摩利人、革迦撒人、

自己在曠野走了一天的路程，來到一棵羅騰樹下，坐下來禱告求死，說：「耶和華啊，我受夠了，求你取走我的性命吧，我不比我的祖先強。」

猶大人沒能把住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人趕出去，他們至今仍然跟猶大人一同居住。

我不會永遠指責，也不會一直發怒，以免世人——我所造的生靈昏倒。

那天，大衛下令軍隊從地下水道爬進城去，攻打那些「瞎子、瘸子」，他憎惡這些耶布斯人。後來便有一句俗語：「瞎子、瘸子不得進殿！」

你們的上帝說：「你們要安慰我的子民。要溫柔地告訴耶路撒冷，她的苦難已經結束，她的罪惡已經被除去。她因自己的一切罪已受到耶和華加倍的懲罰。」

祂與以色列人為敵，使他們被擄，驅逐他們離開本地，用從東方颳來的暴風吹散他們。

於是，耶和華心生憐憫，說：「我也不降這災了。」

便雅憫人沒有趕走居住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人，耶布斯人至今仍和他們住在一起。

但上帝充滿憐憫，赦免了他們的罪，沒有毀滅他們。祂多次收住怒氣，沒有完全發出祂的烈怒。

他們臨近耶布斯時，天快黑了，僕人對主人說：「我們不如就在耶布斯人的城裡住宿吧。」

上帝差遣天使去毀滅耶路撒冷。天使正要毀滅的時候，耶和華見了就心生憐憫，對施行毀滅的天使說：「夠了，住手吧！」當時，耶和華的天使正站在耶布斯人阿珥楠的麥場上。大衛舉目看見耶和華的天使站在天地之間，手握著已出鞘的刀，指向耶路撒冷。大衛和眾長老都身披麻衣，臉伏於地。

祂第三次禱告回來後，對他們說：「你們還在睡覺休息嗎？夠了，時候到了，看啊，人子要被出賣、交在罪人的手裡了。

請你們向耶和華禱告，好止住雷電和冰雹。我准許以色列人出去，你們不必再留在這裡了。」

我必除去他們口中帶血的肉和齒間的可憎之物。餘下的人必歸屬我，成為猶大的一族，以革倫人必像耶布斯人一樣歸屬我。

於是，耶和華心生憐憫，說：「我不降這災了。」

當我宣佈要剷除、推翻、毀滅哪一邦或哪一國的時候，如果他們悔過自新，我必施憐憫，取消我原本要降給他們的災禍。當我宣佈要建造、栽培哪一邦或哪一國的時候，如果他們做我視為惡的事，不聽從我的話，我必改變心意，取消我原本要賜給他們的福氣。

就在那天，迦得來見大衛，對他說：「你要去耶布斯人亞勞拿的麥場，在那裡為耶和華築一座壇。」

耶和華啊，我聽過你的威名；耶和華啊，我對你的作為充滿敬畏。求你如今再次彰顯你的作為，求你發怒的時候仍以憐憫為念。

耶和華聽了摩西的話，就心生憐憫，不把所說的災禍降在百姓身上。
