迦得遂來見大衛、謂之曰、或爾國中饑饉七年、或爾遁於敵前、敵逐爾三月、或於爾國中有瘟疫三日、此三者爾何擇、今爾思而視之、明以告我、俾我歸而復命於遣我者、

“ Go and tell David,‘ This is what the Lord says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.’”

“ Go and tell David,‘ The Lord says,“ I could punish you in three different ways. Choose one of them for me to use against you.” ’ ”

“ Go and say to David,‘ Thus says the Lord, Three things I offer you. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.’”

“ Go and say to David,‘ This is what the Lord says: I will give you three choices. Choose one of these punishments, and I will inflict it on you.’”

“ Go and say to David,‘ This is what the LORD says: I am offering you three choices. Choose one of them, and I will do it to you.’”

Go and speak unto David, Thus saith Jehovah, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon.Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’

“ Go and tell David, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ I offer you three things; choose one of them for yourself, that I may do it to you.”’”So Gad came to David and said to him,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ Choose for yourself,

and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guilt—

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

“ Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.For He bruises, but He binds up; He wounds, but His hands make whole.

The land also shall be left empty by them, and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; they will accept their guilt, because they despised My judgments and because their soul abhorred My statutes.

For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.

For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die.”
