迦得遂來見大衛、謂之曰、或爾國中饑饉七年、或爾遁於敵前、敵逐爾三月、或於爾國中有瘟疫三日、此三者爾何擇、今爾思而視之、明以告我、俾我歸而復命於遣我者、

“ Go and tell David,‘ This is what the Lord says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.’”

“ Go and tell David,‘ The Lord says,“ I could punish you in three different ways. Choose one of them for me to use against you.” ’ ”

“ Go and say to David,‘ Thus says the Lord, Three things I offer you. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.’”

凡是我所爱的，我都责备、管教。所以你应当热心，应当悔改。

因为主所爱的人，主都管教；他所接纳的每一个儿子，他都鞭打。”对管教的事，你们要忍受；神对待你们，就像对待儿女那样。到底哪一个儿子不受父亲的管教呢？大家都有份受管教；你们如果没有受管教，那么，你们就是私生子，不是儿子了。再者，我们有肉身的父亲来管教我们，我们尚且敬重他们，何况对这位万灵之父，我们难道不更要服从他而活着吗？肉身的父亲在短暂的日子里，固然照着自己的意思来管教我们；但万灵之父是为了我们的益处管教我们，好使我们在他的圣洁上有份。

因为耶和华责备他所爱的，正如父亲责备他所喜悦的儿子。
