亞捫人見亞蘭人逃跑，他們也在亞比篩面前逃跑進城。約押就離開亞捫人那裏，回耶路撒冷去了。

大衛打發軍兵出戰，分為三隊：一隊在約押手下，一隊在洗魯雅的兒子、約押兄弟亞比篩手下，一隊在迦特人以太手下。大衛對軍兵說：「我必與你們一同出戰。」

在那裏有洗魯雅的三個兒子：約押、亞比篩、亞撒黑。亞撒黑腳快如野鹿一般；

亞瑪撒沒有防備約押手裏所拿的刀；約押用刀刺入他的肚腹，他的腸子流在地上，沒有再刺他，就死了。約押和他兄弟亞比篩往前追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

約押和他兄弟亞比篩殺了押尼珥，是因押尼珥在基遍爭戰的時候殺了他們的兄弟亞撒黑。

大衛對赫人亞希米勒和洗魯雅的兒子約押的兄弟亞比篩說：「誰同我下到掃羅營裏去？」亞比篩說：「我同你下去。」於是大衛和亞比篩夜間到了百姓那裏，見掃羅睡在輜重營裏；他的槍在頭旁，插在地上。押尼珥和百姓睡在他周圍。亞比篩對大衛說：「現在神將你的仇敵交在你手裏，求你容我拿槍將他刺透在地，一刺就成，不用再刺。」

他們的姊妹是洗魯雅和亞比該。洗魯雅的兒子是亞比篩、約押、亞撒黑，共三人。
