亞捫人看見亞蘭人逃跑，他們也在亞比篩面前逃跑，逃進城裡去了。約押就從亞捫人那裡回來，回到耶路撒冷去了。

大衛派遣眾人出戰：三分之一在約押手下，三分之一在約押的兄弟、洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩手下，三分之一在迦特人以太手下。大衛對眾人說：“我也必與你們一同出戰。”

洗魯雅的三個兒子約押、亞比篩和亞撒黑都在那裡。亞撒黑的腿輕快如野地的羚羊一般。

亞瑪撒沒有防備約押手中的刀，約押用這刀刺進他的肚子，他的內臟就流在地上。不用再刺第二刀，亞瑪撒就死了。約押和他的兄弟亞比篩繼續追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

因押尼珥在基遍的戰場上，殺死了他們的兄弟亞撒黑，約押和他的兄弟亞比篩就殺了押尼珥。

大衛問赫人亞希米勒和洗魯雅的兒子約押的兄弟亞比篩，說：“誰願與我一起下到掃羅的營裡去呢？”亞比篩回答：“我願與你一起下去。”於是大衛和亞比篩趁著夜裡到了眾軍那裡。掃羅正躺在軍營的中央睡著了，他的矛插在頭旁的地上；押尼珥和眾軍都躺在他的周圍。亞比篩對大衛說：“今天神把你的仇敵交在你手裡了。現在求你容我用矛把他刺透在地上，一刺就夠，不必再刺。”

他們的姊妹是洗魯雅和亞比該。洗魯雅的兒子是亞比篩、約押和亞撒黑，共三人。
