“ You have delivered me from the attacks of the peoples; you have preserved me as the head of nations. People I did not know now serve me,

“ You saved me when people attacked me. You have kept me as the ruler over nations. People I didn’t know serve me now.

“ You gave me victory over my accusers. You preserved me as the ruler over nations; people I don’t even know now serve me.

You have freed me from the feuds among my people; you have preserved me as head of nations; a people I had not known serve me.

You have also saved me from the contentions of my people; You have kept me as head of the nations; A people I have not known serve me.

“ You have also delivered me from the strivings of my people; You have kept me as the head of the nations. A people I have not known shall serve me.

Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people; Thou hast kept me to be the head of the nations: A people whom I have not known shall serve me.

You have freed me from the feuds among my people; You have appointed me the head of nations; a people I had not known serve me.

You rescue me from a hostile army; you preserve me as a leader of nations; people over whom I had no authority are now my subjects.

After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.And he defeated Moab and he measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. Two lines he measured to be put to death, and one full line to be spared. And the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.David also defeated Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to restore his power at the river Euphrates.And David took from him 1,700 horsemen, and 20,000 foot soldiers. And David hamstrung all the chariot horses but left enough for 100 chariots.And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down 22,000 men of the Syrians.Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.And David took the shields of gold that were carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took very much bronze.When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer,Toi sent his son Joram to King David, to ask about his health and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him, for Hadadezer had often been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles of silver, of gold, and of bronze.These also King David dedicated to the Lord, together with the silver and gold that he dedicated from all the nations he subdued,from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah.And David made a name for himself when he returned from striking down 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt.Then he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.

Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know, and a nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you.

There was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. And David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul became weaker and weaker.

And all the people were arguing throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ The king delivered us from the hand of our enemies and saved us from the hand of the Philistines, and now he has fled out of the land from Absalom.

And he swayed the heart of all the men of Judah as one man, so that they sent word to the king,“ Return, both you and all your servants.”

And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them,

So the army went out into the field against Israel, and the battle was fought in the forest of Ephraim.And the men of Israel were defeated there by the servants of David, and the loss there was great on that day, twenty thousand men.The battle spread over the face of all the country, and the forest devoured more people that day than the sword.

The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit,“‘ Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain?The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’—for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.

Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said,“ Behold, we are your bone and flesh.

Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying,“ The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”

and I will sow her for myself in the land. And I will have mercy on No Mercy, and I will say to Not My People,‘ You are my people’; and he shall say,‘ You are my God.’”

For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste.

And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.

And again Isaiah says,“ The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the Gentiles; in him will the Gentiles hope.”

You delivered me from strife with the people; you made me the head of the nations; people whom I had not known served me.

Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it out to Joab. So he blew the trumpet, and they dispersed from the city, every man to his home. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,“ Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,“ As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”

Now there happened to be there a worthless man, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite. And he blew the trumpet and said,“ We have no portion in David, and we have no inheritance in the son of Jesse; every man to his tents, O Israel!”So all the men of Israel withdrew from David and followed Sheba the son of Bichri. But the men of Judah followed their king steadfastly from the Jordan to Jerusalem.

May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth!May desert tribes bow down before him, and his enemies lick the dust!

Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.”Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?

I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me; I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me. I said,“ Here I am, here I am,” to a nation that was not called by my name.

He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth.

As indeed he says in Hosea,“ Those who were not my people I will call‘ my people,’ and her who was not beloved I will call‘ beloved.’”
