The king spared Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth, who was Saul’s grandson, because of the oath David and Jonathan had sworn before the Lord.

王因为曾与扫罗的儿子约拿单指着耶和华起誓结盟，就爱惜扫罗的孙子、约拿单的儿子米非波设，不交出来，

王顾惜扫罗的孙子，约拿单的儿子米非波设，因为在大卫和扫罗的儿子约拿单之间，有指着耶和华的誓言。

王顾惜扫罗的孙子，约拿单的儿子米非波设，因为在大卫和扫罗的儿子约拿单之间，有指着耶和华的誓言。

大卫王因为与扫罗的儿子约拿单在耶和华面前起过誓，就没有把扫罗的孙子、约拿单的儿子米非波设交出来。

王顾惜扫罗的孙子、约拿单的儿子米非波设，因为大卫与扫罗的儿子约拿单，曾经在耶和华面前有过誓约。

王顧惜掃羅的孫子、約拿單的兒子米非波設，因為大衛和掃羅的兒子約拿單在耶和華面前起過誓。

昔大衛與掃羅子約拿單、指耶和華而誓、故王惜掃羅孫、約拿單子米非波設、

昔大闢與掃羅子約拿單、指耶和華而誓、故掃羅孫約拿單子米非波設、王矜憫焉。

王矜恤掃羅孫約拿單子米非波設、因昔與掃羅子約拿單指主發誓立盟、

The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the Lord between David and Jonathan son of Saul.

The king spared Mephibosheth. He was the son of Jonathan and the grandson of Saul. David had made a promise in front of the Lord. He had promised to be kind to Jonathan and the family line of his father Saul.

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Saul’s son Jonathan, because of the oath of the Lord that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

David spared Mephibosheth, the son of Saul’s son Jonathan, because of the oath of the LORD that was between David and Jonathan, Saul’s son.

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath of the Lord which was between them, between David and Saul’s son Jonathan.

The king had mercy on Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, in light of the LORD’s oath that had been taken between David and Jonathan son of Saul.

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of Yahweh’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

treat my family with this faithful love, even when the Lord destroys all your enemies from the face of the earth.”

So the two of them renewed their solemn pact before the Lord. Then Jonathan returned home, while David stayed at Horesh.

Show me this loyalty as my sworn friend— for we made a solemn pact before the Lord— or kill me yourself if I have sinned against your father. But please don’t betray me to him!”

And Jonathan made a solemn pact with David, because he loved him as he loved himself.

( Saul’s son Jonathan had a son named Mephibosheth, who was crippled as a child. He was five years old when the report came from Jezreel that Saul and Jonathan had been killed in battle. When the child’s nurse heard the news, she picked him up and fled. But as she hurried away, she dropped him, and he became crippled.)

At last Jonathan said to David,“ Go in peace, for we have sworn loyalty to each other in the Lord’s name. The Lord is the witness of a bond between us and our children forever.” Then David left, and Jonathan returned to the town.

You and your sons and servants are to farm the land for him to produce food for your master’s household. But Mephibosheth, your master’s grandson, will eat here at my table.”( Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)

And Jonathan made David reaffirm his vow of friendship again, for Jonathan loved David as he loved himself.

“ In that case,” the king told Ziba,“ I give you everything Mephibosheth owns.”“ I bow before you,” Ziba replied.“ May I always be pleasing to you, my lord the king.”

“ Why didn’t you come with me, Mephibosheth?” the king asked him.

“ Don’t be afraid!” David said.“ I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan. I will give you all the property that once belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will eat here with me at the king’s table!”
