The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the Lord between David and Jonathan son of Saul.

The king spared Mephibosheth. He was the son of Jonathan and the grandson of Saul. David had made a promise in front of the Lord. He had promised to be kind to Jonathan and the family line of his father Saul.

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Saul’s son Jonathan, because of the oath of the Lord that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

The king spared Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth, who was Saul’s grandson, because of the oath David and Jonathan had sworn before the Lord.

David spared Mephibosheth, the son of Saul’s son Jonathan, because of the oath of the LORD that was between David and Jonathan, Saul’s son.

我死了以后，耶和华从地上一一剪除大卫的仇敌的时候，你也不可向我的家永远断绝你的慈爱。”

于是他们二人在耶和华面前立了约。大卫仍住在何列斯，约拿单却回自己的家去了。

求你以慈爱待仆人，因为你曾与仆人在耶和华面前立盟约。如果我有罪孽，你就亲手把我杀死，为什么要把我交给你父亲呢？”

约拿单与大卫立盟约，因为他爱大卫如同爱自己的命。

扫罗的儿子约拿单有一个儿子，双腿都跛了。扫罗和约拿单死亡的消息从耶斯列传到的时候，他才五岁。他的乳母抱着他逃跑。乳母在慌忙中逃跑，孩子掉了下来，腿就瘸了。他的名字叫米非波设。

约拿单对大卫说：“你平平安安走吧！我们二人曾指着耶和华的名起誓说：‘愿耶和华在你我之间，也在我的后裔和你的后裔之间作证，直到永远。’”大卫就起身离开，约拿单也回城里去了（“大卫就起身离开，约拿单也回城里去了。”在《马索拉文本》为21:1）。

你和你的儿子，以及你的仆人，都要替他耕种田地；你要把所收获的拿来，供他食用。你主人的孙子米非波设要常常与我同席吃饭。”洗巴有十五个儿子，二十个仆人。

约拿单由于爱大卫，就使大卫再起誓；他爱大卫如同爱自己的命。

王对洗巴说：“看哪！凡属米非波设所有的，都归给你了。”洗巴说：“我叩拜我主我王，愿我在你眼前蒙恩！”

他从耶路撒冷来迎接王的时候，王问他：“米非波设啊，你为什么没有与我一同离开呢？”

大卫对他说：“你不要怕，我必因你父亲约拿单的缘故，以慈爱待你，把你祖父扫罗所有的田地都归还给你；你也可以常常与我同席吃饭。”
