大衛王因為與掃羅的兒子約拿單在耶和華面前起過誓，就沒有把掃羅的孫子、約拿單的兒子米非波設交出來。

王因为曾与扫罗的儿子约拿单指着耶和华起誓结盟，就爱惜扫罗的孙子、约拿单的儿子米非波设，不交出来，

王顾惜扫罗的孙子，约拿单的儿子米非波设，因为在大卫和扫罗的儿子约拿单之间，有指着耶和华的誓言。

大卫王因为与扫罗的儿子约拿单在耶和华面前起过誓，就没有把扫罗的孙子、约拿单的儿子米非波设交出来。

王顾惜扫罗的孙子、约拿单的儿子米非波设，因为大卫与扫罗的儿子约拿单，曾经在耶和华面前有过誓约。

The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the Lord between David and Jonathan son of Saul.

The king spared Mephibosheth. He was the son of Jonathan and the grandson of Saul. David had made a promise in front of the Lord. He had promised to be kind to Jonathan and the family line of his father Saul.

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Saul’s son Jonathan, because of the oath of the Lord that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

The king spared Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth, who was Saul’s grandson, because of the oath David and Jonathan had sworn before the Lord.

在我死後，即使耶和華把你所有的仇敵都毀滅了，請你仍舊恩待我的後人。」

二人在耶和華面前立了約。之後，大衛仍留在何利沙，約拿單則回家去了。

請你善待僕人，因你與我在耶和華面前立了盟約。如果我有罪，就請你親手殺了我，何必把我交給你父親呢？」

約拿單像愛自己一樣愛大衛，他與大衛立了盟約，

掃羅的兒子約拿單有個兒子叫米非波設，雙腿是瘸的。掃羅和約拿單在耶斯列陣亡的時候，他才五歲。乳娘抱著他倉皇逃命，不慎把他掉在地上，摔成了瘸子。

約拿單說：「我們已憑耶和華的名起誓，有耶和華在你我和你我的子孫之間永遠為我們的盟約作證，你就安心去吧。」大衛便起身離開，約拿單也回城去了。

你和你的兒子及僕人要為米非波設種田，把出產拿來供養他。他還要常常與我同席吃飯。」洗巴有十五個兒子，二十個僕人。

約拿單因為像愛自己一樣愛大衛，便叫他再次起誓。

王就對洗巴說：「米非波設的一切現在都歸你了。」洗巴說：「願我在我主我王面前蒙恩！」說著，便叩拜大衛王。

他到耶路撒冷來迎接王，王問他：「米非波設，當時你為什麼不跟我一起走呢？」

大衛說：「你不用害怕，我要因為和你父親約拿單的情義而恩待你。我要把你祖父掃羅所有的田地歸還給你，你要常與我同席吃飯。」
