大卫王因为与扫罗的儿子约拿单在耶和华面前起过誓，就没有把扫罗的孙子、约拿单的儿子米非波设交出来。

王因为曾与扫罗的儿子约拿单指着耶和华起誓结盟，就爱惜扫罗的孙子、约拿单的儿子米非波设，不交出来，

王顾惜扫罗的孙子，约拿单的儿子米非波设，因为在大卫和扫罗的儿子约拿单之间，有指着耶和华的誓言。

王顧惜掃羅的孫子、約拿單的兒子米非波設，因為大衛和掃羅的兒子約拿單在耶和華面前起過誓。

The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the Lord between David and Jonathan son of Saul.

The king spared Mephibosheth. He was the son of Jonathan and the grandson of Saul. David had made a promise in front of the Lord. He had promised to be kind to Jonathan and the family line of his father Saul.

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Saul’s son Jonathan, because of the oath of the Lord that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

The king spared Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth, who was Saul’s grandson, because of the oath David and Jonathan had sworn before the Lord.

在我死后，即使耶和华把你所有的仇敌都毁灭了，请你仍旧恩待我的后人。”

二人在耶和华面前立了约。之后，大卫仍留在何利沙，约拿单则回家去了。

请你善待仆人，因你与我在耶和华面前立了盟约。如果我有罪，就请你亲手杀了我，何必把我交给你父亲呢？”

约拿单像爱自己一样爱大卫，他与大卫立了盟约，

扫罗的儿子约拿单有个儿子叫米非波设，双腿是瘸的。扫罗和约拿单在耶斯列阵亡的时候，他才五岁。乳娘抱着他仓皇逃命，不慎把他掉在地上，摔成了瘸子。

约拿单说：“我们已凭耶和华的名起誓，有耶和华在你我和你我的子孙之间永远为我们的盟约作证，你就安心去吧。”大卫便起身离开，约拿单也回城去了。

你和你的儿子及仆人要为米非波设种田，把出产拿来供养他。他还要常常与我同席吃饭。”洗巴有十五个儿子，二十个仆人。

约拿单因为像爱自己一样爱大卫，便叫他再次起誓。

王就对洗巴说：“米非波设的一切现在都归你了。”洗巴说：“愿我在我主我王面前蒙恩！”说着，便叩拜大卫王。

他到耶路撒冷来迎接王，王问他：“米非波设，当时你为什么不跟我一起走呢？”

大卫说：“你不用害怕，我要因为和你父亲约拿单的情义而恩待你。我要把你祖父扫罗所有的田地归还给你，你要常与我同席吃饭。”
