But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying,“ Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.”

But Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, came to save David. He struck down the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men made a promise. They said to David,“ We never want you to go out with us to battle again. You are the lamp of Israel’s kingdom. We want that lamp to keep on burning brightly.”

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid and attacked the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him,“ You shall no longer go out with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of Israel.”

遺一支派予彼、使我僕大闢歷世有光、於我所簡之耶路撒冷、為籲我名之所。

民曰、爾不可往、如我遁逃、死亡者半、敵志不在我、爾之一人、可當我萬、爾自城助我為幸。

緣大闢之故、上帝耶和華、使彼在耶路撒冷歷世有光、立其子繼國位、則耶路撒冷之邑、歷久不廢。

在彼必使大闢崢嶸厥角、沐以膏者、歷代有光兮。

大闢告亞庇篩曰、庇革哩子示巴必將貽害、尤甚於押沙龍、爾率爾兄之僕從、追襲其後、恐其入鞏固之城、我不能獲。約押之兵、與劊役皂隸、及眾英武、群從之、出耶路撒冷、以追示巴、至基遍之大磐、亞馬撒來迓、約押束衣繫紳、中挾利刃、猶藏於鞘、行時刃忽墜地。約押謂亞馬撒曰、我兄安乎。以右手接其髯、欲與接吻。亞瑪撒見約押拾刃、不以為意、約押刺之、腹洞腸流、毋庸再擊、已斃其命。約押及弟亞庇篩仍追庇革哩子示巴。

耶和華似明燈、燭於幽暗。

約翰乃燃明之燈、爾暫喜其光、○

我逢患難、上帝範衛我、扶翼我兮、

約翰非光、特為光證耳、真光者、臨世照萬人者也、

當臨難之日、敵軍突如其來、我所恃者耶和華而已。

爾僕大闢、作民之君、爾使獲勝、爾拯救之、脫於利刃兮。

闔家攻婢曰、殺昆弟者當解之至、以償弟命、然婢止存此子、猶爐存爝火、尚欲撲滅之乎、若是則我夫之名不能恆繼於世。
