But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying,“ Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.”

But Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, came to save David. He struck down the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men made a promise. They said to David,“ We never want you to go out with us to battle again. You are the lamp of Israel’s kingdom. We want that lamp to keep on burning brightly.”

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid and attacked the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him,“ You shall no longer go out with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of Israel.”

至于所罗门的儿子，我要给他一个支派，好使我的仆人大卫在我所拣选立我名的城耶路撒冷，在我面前常常有灯光。

大卫对亚比筛说：“现在比基利的儿子示巴要加害我们，比押沙龙更甚。你要带着你主人的仆人去追赶他，免得他找到了设防的城镇，就避过我们的眼目，从我们的手中逃脱了。”于是约押的人，基利提人、比利提人和所有的勇士，都跟随亚比筛出去。他们从耶路撒冷出去，追赶比基利的儿子示巴。他们到了基遍的大磐石那里，亚玛撒来与他们会合。那时约押穿着战衣，腰间束着佩刀的带子，刀在鞘里。他往前走的时候，刀掉了下来。约押对亚玛撒说：“我的兄弟，你好吗？”约押用右手握住亚玛撒的胡子，要与他亲吻。亚玛撒没有防备约押手中的刀，约押用这刀刺进他的肚子，他的内脏就流在地上。不用再刺第二刀，亚玛撒就死了。约押和他的兄弟亚比筛继续追赶比基利的儿子示巴。

耶和华啊！你是我的灯；耶和华照明了我的黑暗。

约翰是一盏点亮的灯，你们情愿暂时在他的光中欢乐。

神是我们的避难所，是我们的力量，是我们在患难中随时都可得到的帮助。

他不是那光，而是要为那光作见证。那光来到世界，是普照世人的真光。

在我遭难的日子，他们来攻击我；但耶和华是我的支持。

你是那使君王得胜的，是那救拔你（“你”原文作“他”）仆人大卫脱离杀人的刀的。

看哪！现在全家族的人都起来攻击婢女，说：‘你要把那击杀他兄弟的凶手交出来，好让我们把他处死，以偿他兄弟的命，也可以灭绝那继承产业的。’这样他们要使我所剩下的炭火也都熄灭了，不让我丈夫在这世上留下名字，或留下后代。”
