耶和华的话临到耶利米，是关于旱灾的事：“犹大悲哀，她的城镇（“城镇”原文作“城门”）衰落，人人都坐在地上悲伤痛哭；耶路撒冷的哀声上达于天。他们的显贵差派童仆去打水；童仆来到池边，却找不到水，就拿着空的器皿回来；他们失望难过，蒙着自己的头。土地干裂，因为地上没有雨水；农夫失望，都蒙着自己的头。甚至母鹿在田野生产了小鹿，也得把它丢弃，因为没有青草。野驴站在光秃的高冈上，像野狗喘着气；它们双目发呆，因为没有青草。”“耶和华啊！即使我们的罪孽指证我们，还求你因你名的缘故施行拯救。我们实在多次背道，得罪了你。

于是，大卫吩咐年轻人把他们杀了，并且砍断他们的手脚，把身体挂在希伯仑的水池旁边；却把伊施波设的头拿去，埋葬在希伯仑押尼珥的坟墓里。

他又呼唤我，对我说：“你看，那些出来往北方之地去的，已经在北方之地使我心灵的忿怒平息下来。”

摩西对他们说：“耶和华以色列的神这样说：‘你们各人要把自己的剑佩在大腿上，在营中往来行走，从这门到那门；你们各人要杀自己的兄弟、邻舍和亲人。’”利未的子孙照着摩西的话作了；那一天，人民中被杀的约有三千人。摩西说：“今天你们要奉献自己归耶和华为圣，因为各人牺牲了自己的儿子和兄弟，好使耶和华今天赐福给你们。”

于是他们把约拿抬起来，投在海里，怒涛就平息了。

于是耶和华为了自己的地发热心，怜恤他的子民。耶和华应允他的子民，对他们说：“看哪！我必赐给你们五谷、新酒和新油，你们必吃得饱足，我必不再使你们成为列国中的羞辱。

今天你离开我以后，在便雅悯境内的泄撒，靠近拉结坟墓的旁边，必遇见两个人。他们会对你说：‘你去寻找的那几头母驴已经找到了。现在你父亲放下了母驴的事，反而为你担忧，说：我为我的儿子要怎么办呢？’

主耶和华向我这样显示：看哪！替王收割之后，田产又开始生长时，主造出一群蝗虫。蝗虫吃尽地上的农产时，我说：“主耶和华啊！求你宽恕，因雅各太弱小，怎能站立得住呢？”耶和华对这事改变心意，耶和华说：“这事不会发生。”主耶和华向我这样显示：看哪！主耶和华召来刑罚的火，烧毁广大的深渊和以色列的地业。因此我对主耶和华说：“求你停止吧！因雅各太弱小，怎能站立得住呢？”耶和华对这事改变心意。主耶和华说：“这事也不会发生。”

他们把押尼珥埋葬在希伯仑。王在押尼珥的墓旁放声大哭，众人也都哭了。

要给他和他的后裔作为永远担当祭司职分的约，因为他为他的神有忌邪的心，为以色列人赎罪。’”

以利亚对他们说：“捉住巴力的先知，一个也不要让他们逃脱。”于是众人捉住他们。以利亚带他们下到基顺河边，在那里杀了他们。以利亚对亚哈说：“你上去吃喝吧！因为已经有下大雨的响声了。”
