當這一切發生的時候，就應驗了聖經上的話：「死亡被勝利吞滅了。」

向我們發怒的時候，我們早已被他們生吞，

我要懲罰巴比倫的神明彼勒，使他吐出所吞噬的。巴比倫的城牆要倒塌，萬國必不再湧向她。

現在，倘若你們認真聽從我的話，遵守我的約，就必在萬民中做我的子民，因為普天下都是我的。你們要歸於我，作祭司之國、聖潔之邦。這些話你要告訴以色列人。』」

我底波拉做以色列之母以前，以色列的鄉村人煙稀少。

但以色列人屬於耶和華，雅各是祂的產業。

掌權者不是叫行善的懼怕，而是叫作惡的懼怕。你想不怕掌權的嗎？就要行得正，這樣你會得到稱讚。要知道掌權者是上帝差遣的，對行得正的人有益處。然而，你若作惡，就該懼怕，因為他必將你繩之以法。他是上帝的僕人，代表上帝秉公行義，懲奸罰惡。

也要為所有的君王和掌權者禱告，使我們可以懷著虔誠、端正的心過和平安寧的生活。

主像敵人一樣毀滅以色列，吞噬她的宮殿，夷平她的堡壘，使猶大人哀哭不止。

以致大地裂開將他們全部吞了下去，當時大火還燒滅了二百五十人——成了後人的警戒。

你和你母親及姊妹如出一轍，都厭棄自己的丈夫和兒女。你母親是赫人，你父親是亞摩利人。你姐姐是撒瑪利亞，她和她的女兒們住在你的北面。你妹妹是所多瑪，她和她的女兒們住在你的南面。你不僅追隨她們可憎的行徑，還很快超過了她們。我憑我的永恆起誓，與你妹妹所多瑪和她女兒們相比，你和你女兒們的行徑有過之而無不及。這是主耶和華說的。看啊，你妹妹所多瑪和她的女兒們傲慢狂妄，安逸飽足，對窮困的人漠不關心。

以色列人說：「巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒吞噬我們、擊垮我們，把我們洗劫一空。他像海怪一樣吞吃我們，飽餐我們的美物，然後把我們趕走。」
