婦人開口說：「從前人們常說『要在亞貝勒求問』，他們這樣就解決了問題。

婦曰、昔人有言、必問於亞比拉、乃畢其事、

婦曰、疇昔人嘗有言、當往亞伯而諮諏、以斷事理。

婦曰、凡攻城必先說說、爾當先問亞比拉居民之意若何、然後方決其事、或作古昔人嘗言當問於亞比拉然後方決其事

She continued,“ Long ago they used to say,‘ Get your answer at Abel,’ and that settled it.

She continued,“ Long ago people used to say,‘ Get your answer at Abel.’ And that would settle the matter.

Then she said,“ They used to say in former times,‘ Let them but ask counsel at Abel,’ and so they settled a matter.

Then she continued,“ There used to be a saying,‘ If you want to settle an argument, ask advice at the town of Abel.’

She said,“ In the past they used to say,‘ Seek counsel in Abel,’ and that’s how they settled disputes.

Then she spoke, saying,“ In the past they used to say,‘ They will undoubtedly ask advice at Abel,’ and that is how they ended a dispute.

So she spoke, saying,“ They used to talk in former times, saying,‘ They shall surely seek guidance at Abel,’ and so they would end disputes.

Then she spake, saying, They were wont to speak in old time, saying, They shall surely ask counsel at Abel: and so they ended the matter.

She said,“ In the past they used to say,‘ Seek counsel in Abel,’ and that’s how they settled disputes.

Then she spake, saying, They were wont to speak in old time, saying, They shall surely ask[ counsel] at Abel: and so they ended[ the matter].

She said,“ In the past they would always say,‘ Let them inquire in Abel,’ and that is how they settled things.

When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it.It shall be, if it gives you answer of peace and opens to you, then it shall be that all the people who are found therein shall become forced laborers to you, and shall serve you.
