a wise woman called from the city,“ Listen! Listen! Tell Joab to come here so I can speak to him.”

While that was going on, a wise woman called out from the city. She shouted,“ Listen! Listen! Tell Joab to come here. I want to speak to him.”

Then a wise woman called from the city,“ Listen! Listen! Tell Joab,‘ Come here, that I may speak to you.’”

But a wise woman in the town called out to Joab,“ Listen to me, Joab. Come over here so I can talk to you.”

Then a wise woman called out from the city,“ Listen, listen! Please tell Joab,‘ Come here that I may speak with you.’ ”

Then a wise woman cried out from the city,“ Hear, Hear! Please say to Joab,‘ Come nearby, that I may speak with you.’”

Then cried a wise woman out of the city, Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab, Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.

Then a wise woman cried out of the city,“ Hear, hear! Please say to Joab,‘ Come near here, that I may speak with you.’”

And Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead:

And David said to Abigail, Blessed[ be] the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:And blessed[ be] thy advice, and blessed[ be] thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to[ shed] blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.

Now the name of the man[ was] Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and[ she was] a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man[ was] churlish and evil in his doings; and he[ was] of the house of Caleb.

[ There was] a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.Then said I, Wisdom[ is] better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom[ is] despised, and his words are not heard.The words of wise[ men are] heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.Wisdom[ is] better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.
