Now a troublemaker named Sheba son of Bikri, a Benjamite, happened to be there. He sounded the trumpet and shouted,“ We have no share in David, no part in Jesse’s son! Every man to his tent, Israel!”

An evil man who always stirred up trouble happened to be in Gilgal. His name was Sheba, the son of Bikri. Sheba was from the tribe of Benjamin. He blew his trumpet. Then he shouted,“ We don’t have any share in David’s kingdom! Jesse’s son is not our king! Men of Israel, every one of you go back home!”

Now there happened to be there a worthless man, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite. And he blew the trumpet and said,“ We have no portion in David, and we have no inheritance in the son of Jesse; every man to his tents, O Israel!”

There happened to be a troublemaker there named Sheba son of Bicri, a man from the tribe of Benjamin. Sheba blew a ram’s horn and began to chant:“ Down with the dynasty of David! We have no interest in the son of Jesse. Come on, you men of Israel, back to your homes!”

Now a worthless man happened to be there whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite; and he blew the trumpet and said,“ We have no share in David, Nor do we have an inheritance in the son of Jesse; Every man to his tents, Israel!”

And there happened to be there a rebel, whose name was Sheba the son of Bichri, a Benjamite. And he blew a trumpet, and said:“ We have no share in David, Nor do we have inheritance in the son of Jesse; Every man to his tents, O Israel!”

And there happened to be there a base fellow, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew the trumpet, and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.

When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people answered him: What portion do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Israel, return to your tents; David, now look after your own house! So Israel went to their tents,

that wicked men have sprung up among you, led the inhabitants of their city astray, and said,‘ Let’s go and worship other gods,’ which you have not known,

When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people answered the king: What portion do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Israel, each to your tent; David, look after your own house now! So all Israel went to their tents.

Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had attended his father Solomon when he was alive, asking,“ How do you advise me to respond to this people?”

Rise up, LORD! Confront him; bring him down. With your sword, save me from the wicked.

Suddenly, all the men of Israel came to the king. They asked him,“ Why did our brothers, the men of Judah, take you away secretly and transport the king and his household across the Jordan, along with all of David’s men?”All the men of Judah responded to the men of Israel,“ Because the king is our relative. Why does this make you angry? Have we ever eaten anything of the king’s or been honored at all?”The men of Israel answered the men of Judah,“ We have ten shares in the king, so we have a greater claim to David than you. Why then do you despise us? Weren’t we the first to speak of restoring our king?” But the words of the men of Judah were harsher than those of the men of Israel.

Saul said to his servants,“ Listen, men of Benjamin: Is Jesse’s son going to give all of you fields and vineyards? Do you think he’ll make all of you commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?That’s why all of you have conspired against me! Nobody tells me when my own son makes a covenant with Jesse’s son. None of you cares about me or tells me that my son has stirred up my own servant to wait in ambush for me, as is the case today.”

As charcoal for embers and wood for fire, so is a quarrelsome person for kindling strife.

Don’t take a matter to court hastily. Otherwise, what will you do afterward if your opponent humiliates you?

But all the wicked are like thorns raked aside; they can never be picked up by hand.

Are you not from eternity, LORD my God? My Holy One, you will not die. LORD, you appointed them to execute judgment; my Rock, you destined them to punish us.Your eyes are too pure to look on evil, and you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. So why do you tolerate those who are treacherous? Why are you silent while one who is wicked swallows up one who is more righteous than himself?

My son, fear the LORD, as well as the king, and don’t associate with rebels,for destruction will come suddenly from them; who knows what distress these two can bring?

One who is righteous has many adversities, but the LORD rescues him from them all.

While they were enjoying themselves, all of a sudden, wicked men of the city surrounded the house and beat on the door. They said to the old man who was the owner of the house,“ Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him!”

Eli’s sons were wicked men; they did not respect the LORD

Then Absalom sent agents throughout the tribes of Israel with this message:“ When you hear the sound of the ram’s horn, you are to say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron!’”

After he arrived, he sounded the ram’s horn throughout the hill country of Ephraim. The Israelites came down with him from the hill country, and he became their leader.

“ But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We don’t want this man to rule over us.’

but all the corrupt and worthless men among those who had gone with David argued,“ Because they didn’t go with us, we will not give any of the plunder we recovered to them except for each man’s wife and children. They may take them and go.”

But bring here these enemies of mine, who did not want me to rule over them, and slaughter them in my presence.’”
