所有的勇士就動身，走了一整夜，把掃羅的屍體和他三個兒子的屍體都從伯．珊的城牆上取下來，帶回雅比，在那裡把他們燒了，

你們要警醒，要在信仰上站立得穩，要作大丈夫，要剛強。

這些事以後，耶和華的話在異象中臨到亞伯蘭說：“亞伯蘭，你不要懼怕，我是你的盾牌；你的賞賜是很大的。”

在山谷那邊，和約旦河那邊的以色列人，看見以色列人逃跑，掃羅和他的兒子都死了，他們就棄城逃跑。非利士人就來住在城中。

最後，你們要靠主的大能大力，在他裡面剛強。

非利士人哪！你們要剛強，要作大丈夫，免得你們作希伯來人的奴僕，好像他們作過你們的奴僕一樣；你們要作大丈夫，作戰吧！”

你要剛強；為了我們的人民和我們神的眾城鎮，我們要剛強！願耶和華成全他看為美的事。”
