第三日，大衛和他的人到了洗革拉。亞瑪力人已經侵奪尼革夫和洗革拉。他們攻破洗革拉，用火焚燒。

凡生活窘迫的、欠債的、心裏苦惱的都聚集到大衛那裏，他就作他們的領袖，跟隨他的約有四百人。

把猶大山區的基列‧亞巴，就是希伯崙，和四圍的郊野給了他們。亞巴是亞衲族的祖先。但是，這城的田地和所屬的村莊卻給了耶孚尼的兒子迦勒為業。

於是，大衛出發，他和跟隨他的六百人來到比梭溪，那些不能前去的就留在那裏。大衛帶着四百人往前追趕；有二百人疲乏，不能過比梭溪，留在那裏。
