洗鲁雅的儿子约押作元帅；亚希律的儿子约沙法作史官；

他们的姊妹是洗鲁雅和亚比该。洗鲁雅的儿子是亚比筛、约押和亚撒黑，共三人。

就带领众人前往，要和尼探雅的儿子以实玛利争战，他们在基遍的大水池旁遇见他。

虽然约押没有拥护押沙龙，却拥护了亚多尼雅；这消息传到约押那里，他就逃到耶和华的帐幕，抓住祭坛的翘角。有人告诉所罗门王：“约押逃到耶和华的帐幕，看哪，他在祭坛的旁边。”所罗门就派耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅，说：“去，杀了他。”比拿雅来到耶和华的帐幕，对约押说：“王这样吩咐：‘你出来吧！’”他说：“不，我要死在这里。”比拿雅就去回覆王，说：“约押这样说，他这样回答我。”王对他说：“你可以照着他的话去做，杀了他，把他葬了，好叫约押流无辜人血的罪不归在我和我的父家。耶和华必使约押的血归到他自己头上，因为他击杀两个比他又公义又良善的人，就是尼珥的儿子以色列的元帅押尼珥和益帖的儿子犹大的元帅亚玛撒，用刀杀了他们，我父亲大卫却不知道。这二人的血必归到约押和他后裔头上，直到永远；惟有大卫和他的后裔，以及他的家与王位，必从耶和华那里得平安，直到永远。”于是耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅上去，击杀约押，杀死他，把他葬在旷野约押自己的家里。王就立耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅作元帅，代替约押，又使撒督祭司代替亚比亚他。

亚多尼雅与洗鲁雅的儿子约押和亚比亚他祭司商议；他们就顺从亚多尼雅，帮助他。

在那里有洗鲁雅的三个儿子：约押、亚比筛、亚撒黑。亚撒黑的脚快如野地里的羚羊；

约押统管以色列全军；耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅统管基利提人和比利提人；

大卫说：“谁先攻打耶布斯人，必作领袖，作元帅。”洗鲁雅的儿子约押先上去，就作了领袖。
