掃羅曰、當告大衛云、王不受聘禮、第求非利士人之陽皮一百、以報王仇、掃羅之意、欲假手於非利士人殺之、

若心懷嫉很朋黨、則勿誇勿誑、以敵真理、此智非自上而來、乃屬地與慾與魔也、蓋媢嫉朋黨所在、必有紛亂與諸惡行、

昔冒死擊非利士人、耶和華為以色列眾大施拯救、爾見之喜、今何無故殺之、流無辜之血、而干罪戾乎、

我曰、凡有金者、脫而予我、我投之火、此犢出焉、

如是大衛以繩與石、勝非利士人、擊而殺之、手不持劍、

大衛遂至巴力毘拉心、擊之於彼、則曰、耶和華破敵於我前、如水之衝流然、故其名地曰巴力毘拉心、
