And throughout all the tribes of Israel there was much discussion and argument going on. The people were saying,“ The king rescued us from our enemies and saved us from the Philistines, but Absalom chased him out of the country.

大衛就對耶路撒冷跟隨他的臣僕說：「我們要起來逃走，不然都不能躲避押沙龍了；要速速地去，恐怕他忽然來到，加害於我們，用刀殺盡合城的人。」

此後，大衛攻打非利士人，把他們治服，從他們手下奪取了京城的權柄；又攻打摩押人，使他們躺臥在地上，用繩量一量：量二繩的殺了，量一繩的存留。摩押人就歸服大衛，給他進貢。瑣巴王利合的兒子哈大底謝往大河去，要奪回他的國權。大衛就攻打他，擒拿了他的馬兵一千七百，步兵二萬，將拉戰車的馬砍斷蹄筋，但留下一百輛車的馬。大馬士革的亞蘭人來幫助瑣巴王哈大底謝，大衛就殺了亞蘭人二萬二千。於是大衛在大馬士革的亞蘭地設立防營，亞蘭人就歸服他，給他進貢。大衛無論往哪裏去，耶和華都使他得勝。他奪了哈大底謝臣僕所拿的金盾牌，帶到耶路撒冷。大衛王又從屬哈大底謝的比他和比羅他城中奪取了許多的銅。哈馬王陀以聽見大衛殺敗哈大底謝的全軍，就打發他兒子約蘭去見大衛王，問他的安，為他祝福，因為他殺敗了哈大底謝（原來陀以與哈大底謝常常爭戰）。約蘭帶了金銀銅的器皿來，大衛王將這些器皿和他治服各國所得來的金銀都分別為聖，獻給耶和華，就是從亞蘭、摩押、亞捫、非利士、亞瑪力人所得來的，以及從瑣巴王利合的兒子哈大底謝所掠之物。大衛在鹽谷擊殺了亞蘭一萬八千人回來，就得了大名；又在以東全地設立防營，以東人就都歸服大衛。大衛無論往哪裏去，耶和華都使他得勝。

掃羅說：「你們要對大衛這樣說：『王不要甚麼聘禮，只要一百非利士人的陽皮，好在王的仇敵身上報仇。』」掃羅的意思要使大衛喪在非利士人的手裏。

掃羅無論差遣大衛往何處去，他都做事精明。掃羅就立他作戰士長，眾百姓和掃羅的臣僕無不喜悅。大衛打死了那非利士人，同眾人回來的時候，婦女們從以色列各城裏出來，歡歡喜喜，打鼓擊磬，歌唱跳舞，迎接掃羅王。眾婦女舞蹈唱和，說：「掃羅殺死千千，大衛殺死萬萬。」

那人說：「你所賜給我、與我同居的女人，她把那樹上的果子給我，我就吃了。」耶和華神對女人說：「你做的是甚麼事呢？」女人說：「那蛇引誘我，我就吃了。」

你們心裏若懷着苦毒的嫉妒和紛爭，就不可自誇，也不可說謊話抵擋真道。這樣的智慧不是從上頭來的，乃是屬地的，屬情慾的，屬鬼魔的。在何處有嫉妒、紛爭，就在何處有擾亂和各樣的壞事。

他拚命殺那非利士人，耶和華為以色列眾人大行拯救；那時你看見，甚是歡喜，現在為何無故要殺大衛，流無辜人的血，自己取罪呢？」

我對他們說：『凡有金環的可以摘下來』，他們就給了我。我把金環扔在火中，這牛犢便出來了。」

這樣，大衛用機弦甩石，勝了那非利士人，打死他；大衛手中卻沒有刀。

大衛來到巴力‧毗拉心，在那裏擊殺非利士人，說：「耶和華在我面前沖破敵人，如同水沖去一般。」因此稱那地方為巴力‧毗拉心。
