後來大衛打敗並征服了非利士人，奪取了他們的都城。他又打敗了摩押人，讓他們並排躺在地上，然後用繩子去量，每兩繩之內的人都要被殺掉，第三繩的人留下性命。從此，摩押人臣服於大衛，向他進貢。利合的兒子瑣巴王哈大底謝出來要恢復他在幼發拉底河一帶的勢力，大衛打敗了他，俘獲一千七百名騎兵和兩萬名步兵，砍斷拉戰車的馬匹的蹄筋，只留下夠拉一百輛戰車的馬匹。大馬士革的亞蘭人前來支援瑣巴王哈大底謝，大衛殺了他們兩萬二千人，還派軍駐守亞蘭國的大馬士革，亞蘭人臣服大衛，向他進貢。耶和華使大衛無往而不勝。大衛奪走哈大底謝侍從的金盾牌，帶回耶路撒冷，又從哈大底謝統治的比他和比羅他兩座城中奪走大量的銅。哈馬王陀以聽說大衛打敗哈大底謝全軍，就派兒子約蘭帶著許多金銀銅器去朝見大衛王，向他請安，祝賀他打敗了哈大底謝。因為陀以常常和哈大底謝交戰。大衛王把這些器皿和他征服亞蘭人、摩押人、亞捫人、非利士人、亞瑪力人和利合的兒子瑣巴王哈大底謝時所得的金銀都分別出來，奉獻給耶和華。

掃羅說：「你們去告訴大衛，就說王只需要一百個非利士人的包皮作聘禮，好向他的敵人報仇。」掃羅想讓大衛死在非利士人的手上。

無論掃羅派大衛辦什麼事，他都表現出色。掃羅派他做軍隊的將領，民眾和掃羅的臣僕都非常滿意。大衛殺死了非利士人歌利亞，以色列人凱旋歸來，婦女們擊鼓彈琴、載歌載舞地從以色列各城出來迎接掃羅王。她們跳舞歌唱：「掃羅殺死千千，大衛殺死萬萬。」

那人說：「你賜給我作伴的女人摘了那樹上的果子給我，我就吃了。」耶和華上帝對女人說：「你這做的是什麼事？」女人說：「是蛇誘騙我，我才吃的。」

但如果你們心懷苦毒的嫉妒和自私的野心，就不要自誇說有智慧，也不要違背真理去撒謊。這種智慧並非來自天上，而是從世俗、私慾和魔鬼來的。哪裡有嫉妒和自私的野心，哪裡就會有混亂和各樣的惡事。

他冒著生命危險去殺非利士人，耶和華使以色列人大獲全勝，當時你看見了，非常歡喜，現在為什麼要犯罪，枉殺無辜的大衛呢？」

於是，我吩咐他們摘下金耳環給我，我把這些金耳環丟進火裡，這頭牛犢就出來了。」

大衛就這樣不用刀劍，只用投石器和一塊石子戰勝了那個非利士人，殺死了他。

大衛前往巴力·毗拉心，在那裡打敗了敵人。他說：「耶和華像洪水決堤一樣為我沖垮了仇敵。」於是他稱那地方為巴力·毗拉心。
