When the king crossed over to Gilgal, Kimham crossed with him. All the troops of Judah and half the troops of Israel had taken the king over.

眾人前呼後擁，歡呼著說：「和散那歸於大衛的後裔！奉主名來的當受稱頌！和散那歸於至高之處的上帝！」

大衛王派人去對祭司撒督和亞比亞他說：「你們去問猶大的長老，『全以色列已經準備迎接王回宮，你們為什麼遲遲沒有反應？你們是王的弟兄，是王的骨肉，為什麼遲遲沒有迎接王回宮？』你們也要對亞瑪撒說，『你是我的骨肉，要是我不立你為元帥取代約押，願上帝重重地處罰我。』」王的這番話打動了所有猶大人的心，他們派人去請王和王的臣僕回來。王便啟程回宮。他來到約旦河時，猶大人都到吉甲來迎接他，要護送他過河。

王權必不離猶大，御杖必伴他左右，直到那位執掌王權的來到，萬民都必歸順他。
