昔我避爾兄押沙龍時、基列人巴西來眾子來迓、故當待之以恩、視若上賓。

俱來金罕旅所、近伯利恆之地、欲往埃及。

王至吉甲、金罕偕行、猶大眾人、及以色列族之半送王。○

今我血譬諸灌奠、我逝邁之期伊邇、

我欲與祖父同墓、必攜我骨出埃及、歸葬於先人之兆。曰、惟命是聽。

今如主所言、可釋僕安然以逝、以我目擊救主、

乃復至此、在耶和華所禁之處、食餅飲水、故爾尸骸、不得與父同葬。

今日我將逝世、無異凡民、乃爾一心一意、知爾上帝耶和華所許之福、萬無一失、毋或少遺。

父命之曰、我將返本、當葬我於赫人以弗崙田中之穴、附吾祖父側。昔亞伯拉罕自赫人以弗崙購迦南地慢哩相對麥比拉田之穴、以為塚地。族人於斯土葬亞伯拉罕、及其妻撒拉、亦葬以撒及其妻利百加、我亦葬利亞。

吾自知棄帷幕不遠、以吾主耶穌基督示我、

以色列語約瑟曰、我死期將至、上帝必祐爾、使爾返於爾祖所旅之處。

歸父骨至迦南、葬於麥比拉田之穴、與慢哩相對、昔亞伯拉罕購自赫人以弗崙之塚地。
