All my grandfather’s descendants deserved nothing but death from my lord the king, but you gave your servant a place among those who eat at your table. So what right do I have to make any more appeals to the king?”

You should have put all the members of my grandfather’s family to death, including me. Instead, you always provided what I needed. So what right do I have to make any more appeals to you?”

For all my father’s house were but men doomed to death before my lord the king, but you set your servant among those who eat at your table. What further right have I, then, to cry to the king?”

All my relatives and I could expect only death from you, my lord, but instead you have honored me by allowing me to eat at your own table! What more can I ask?”

這樣，米非波設住在耶路撒冷，常常與王同席吃飯。可是他的雙腿都是瘸的。

你和你的兒子，以及你的僕人，都要替他耕種田地；你要把所收穫的拿來，供他食用。你主人的孫子米非波設要常常與我同席吃飯。”洗巴有十五個兒子，二十個僕人。

七年結束的時候，那婦人從非利士地回來，就去為自己的房屋、田產哀求王。

你所作的這事不好。我指著永活的耶和華起誓，你們都是該死的，因為你們沒有保護你的主，就是耶和華的受膏者。現在你看看王頭旁的矛和水袋在哪裡？”

你向你僕人所施的一切慈愛和信實，我實在不配得。從前我只拿著我的手杖過這約旦河；現在我卻擁有這兩隊人馬了。

現在請你把他子孫中的七個男丁交給我們，我們可以在基遍耶和華的山上，在耶和華面前把他們處決。”王說：“我必交給你們。”王顧惜掃羅的孫子、約拿單的兒子米非波設，因為大衛與掃羅的兒子約拿單，曾經在耶和華面前有過誓約。於是王逮捕了愛雅的女兒利斯巴為掃羅所生的兩個兒子：亞摩尼和米非波設，和掃羅的女兒米拉（按照《馬索拉文本》，“米拉”作“米甲”；現參照其他文本和《七十士譯本》翻譯；參撒上18:19）為米何拉人巴西萊的兒子亞得列所生的五個兒子，把他們交在基遍人的手裡。基遍人就在山上耶和華面前把他們處決，這七人就一同倒斃了。他們被處死的時候，正是收穫季節之初，就是開始收割大麥的時候。

大衛對他說：“你不要怕，我必因你父親約拿單的緣故，以慈愛待你，把你祖父掃羅所有的田地都歸還給你；你也可以常常與我同席吃飯。”米非波設再叩拜說：“僕人算甚麼？你竟然眷顧我這個像條死狗的人！”
