Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson, also went down to meet the king. He had not taken care of his feet or trimmed his mustache or washed his clothes from the day the king left until the day he returned safely.

掃羅的孫子約拿單的兒子米非波設來見大衛，便伏臉叩拜；大衛說：『米非波設。』米非波設說：『看哪，僕人在這裏。』大衛對他說：『你不要怕；我一定要因你父親約拿單的緣故以厚愛待你，將你祖父掃羅的一切田地都歸還你；你也可以經常在我席上喫飯。』米非波設又叩拜說：『僕人算甚麼，王竟垂顧像我這樣的一隻死狗啊！』王召了掃羅的僮僕洗巴來，對他說：『我已將屬掃羅和他全家的都賜給你主人的兒子了。你和你眾子和僕人都要為他耕地，收進五穀，使你主人的眾子有飯喫；至於你主人的兒子米非波設、他卻要經常在我席上喫飯。』洗巴有十五個兒子、二十個僕人。

有人從示劍、示羅、和撒瑪利亞來，共有八十人，鬍鬚都剃光，衣服全撕裂，身體都刻劃破，手裏拿着素祭和乳香、要奉到永恆主的殿。

要和喜樂的人同喜樂，和哭泣的人同哭泣；

大衛由橄欖山的上坡上去：一面上去，一面哭；蒙着頭，赤着腳；跟從他的眾民也都蒙着頭上去：一面上去，一面哭。

王問說：『你主人的兒子在哪裏？』洗巴對王說：『你看，他還在耶路撒冷；因為他心裏說：「以色列家今日必將我父的國歸還給我。」』

底本的居民上高處去哭；摩押人為了尼波和米底巴而哀號；各人頭上光禿，各人鬍鬚剃淨；

你們要顧念被捆鎖的人，像同受捆鎖一樣：顧念受虐待的人，像自己也同在一個身體之內一樣。

你們禁食的時候、別像假冒為善的人帶着愁容了，因為他們把臉顯得難看，好對人顯出他們在禁食；我實在告訴你們，他們已經收到了他們的賞報了。
