Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson, also went down to meet the king. He had not taken care of his feet or trimmed his mustache or washed his clothes from the day the king left until the day he returned safely.

掃羅的孫子，約拿單的兒子米非波設來到大衛面前，俯伏叩拜。大衛說：“米非波設！”他回答：“僕人在這裡。”大衛對他說：“你不要怕，我必因你父親約拿單的緣故，以慈愛待你，把你祖父掃羅所有的田地都歸還給你；你也可以常常與我同席吃飯。”米非波設再叩拜說：“僕人算甚麼？你竟然眷顧我這個像條死狗的人！”王把掃羅的僕人洗巴召來，對他說：“我已經把屬於掃羅，以及他全家所有的一切，給了你主人的孫子。你和你的兒子，以及你的僕人，都要替他耕種田地；你要把所收穫的拿來，供他食用。你主人的孫子米非波設要常常與我同席吃飯。”洗巴有十五個兒子，二十個僕人。

有八十個人從示劍、示羅和撒瑪利亞前來，鬍鬚剃去，衣服撕裂，身體割破，手裡拿著素祭和乳香，要帶到耶和華的殿裡去。

要與喜樂的人一同喜樂，與哀哭的人一同哀哭。

大衛走上橄欖山；他蒙著頭，赤著腳，一邊上，一邊哭，所有與他在一起的人民也都蒙著頭，一邊上，一邊哭。

王又問：“你主人的孫子米非波設在哪裡？”洗巴回答王說：“唉！他還留在耶路撒冷，因為他心裡想：‘今日以色列家會把我祖父掃羅的王國歸還給我。’”

他們進入房子（“房子”或譯：“廟宇”），又往底本，上到高處去哭泣，摩押人為尼波和米底巴哀號；各人頭上都光禿，鬍鬚剃淨。

你們要記念那些被囚禁的人，好像跟他們一起被囚禁；也要記念那些受虐待的人，好像你們也親自受過。

“你們禁食的時候，不可像偽君子那樣愁眉苦臉，他們裝成難看的樣子，叫人看出他們在禁食。我實在告訴你們，他們已經得了他們的賞賜。
