The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said:“ O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you— O Absalom, my son, my son!”

The king was very upset. He went up to the room over the entrance of the gate and wept. As he went, he said,“ My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! I wish I had died instead of you. Absalom! My son, my son!”

And the king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And as he went, he said,“ O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son!”

The king was overcome with emotion. He went up to the room over the gateway and burst into tears. And as he went, he cried,“ O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you! O Absalom, my son, my son.”

The king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber above the city gate and wept. As he walked, he cried,“ My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

Then the king trembled and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And this is what he said as he walked:“ My son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

Then the king was deeply moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept. And as he went, he said thus:“ O my son Absalom— my son, my son Absalom— if only I had died in your place! O Absalom my son, my son!”

( 19: 1) The king then became very upset. He went up to the upper room over the gate and wept. As he went he said,“ My son, Absalom! My son, my son, Absalom! If only I could have died in your place! Absalom, my son, my son!”

The king was much moved, and went up to the room over the gate, and wept. As he went, he said,“ My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! I wish I had died for you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

如今，你若赦免他們的罪，就好啦；倘若不然，就求你從你所記的冊上把我塗抹掉吧。』

父親怎樣憐憫兒女，永恆主也怎樣憐憫敬畏他、的人。

現在呢、你既藐視了我，娶了赫人烏利亞的妻做你的妻子，刀劍就永不離開你的家。」永恆主這麼說：「看吧，我必從你家中興起禍患來攻擊你；我必將你的妃嬪在你眼前賜給你的鄰舍；他必在這日光的鑒察下就和你的妃嬪同寢。你在暗中行事，我卻要在以色列眾人面前、在日光之前行這報應。」』大衛對拿單說：『我犯罪得罪了永恆主了。』拿單對大衛說：『永恆主也已不追究你的罪了；你是不至於死的。不過你行這事大大地褻慢了永恆主；故此你所得的這孩子也必定死。』說了這些話，拿單就回家去了。永恆主擊打了烏利亞的妻子給大衛所生的孩子、使他得重病。大衛就為這孩子求問上帝；苦苦地禁食，進入內室，穿着麻布，躺在地上。他家中的老臣立在他旁邊、要把他從地上扶起來；他卻不情願起來，也不同他們喫飯。第七天孩子死了。大衛的臣僕不敢告訴他孩子死了；因為他們說：「看哪，孩子還活着時、我們對他說，他尚且不聽我們的話；現在我們怎能對他說孩子死了，以致他鬧出大禍來呢？』大衛見臣僕交頭接耳地說話，就會悟孩子死了；便問臣僕說：『孩子死了麼？』他們說：『死了。』大衛就從地上起來，洗澡，抹油，更換衣裳；進永恆主的殿敬拜；然後到家裏；要了飯；人擺上，他便喫了。臣僕問他說：『你所行的是甚麼意思？為了孩子活着的緣故、你就禁食哭泣；孩子死了，你倒起來喫飯？』大衛說：『孩子還活着時、我禁食哭泣，因為我心裏說：「誰知道永恆主不恩待我、使孩子活着呢？」現在他死了，我又何必禁食呢？難道我能使他再回來麼？我、我總會往他那裏去的；他、他是不能回到我這裏來的。』

為我弟兄、我骨肉之親、我巴不得被革除、和基督隔絕呢！

以利亞是和我們同樣性質的人；他懇切禱告，求別下雨，雨就三年零六個月沒有下在地上。
