Solomon’s proverbs: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son, heartache to his mother.

A foolish son is grief to his father and bitterness to the one who bore him.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.

Then he went home and requested something to eat. So they served him food, and he ate.His servants asked him,“ Why have you done this? While the baby was alive, you fasted and wept, but when he died, you got up and ate food.”He answered,“ While the baby was alive, I fasted and wept because I thought,‘ Who knows? The LORD may be gracious to me and let him live.’But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I’ll go to him, but he will never return to me.”

For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the benefit of my brothers and sisters, my own flesh and blood.

Elijah was a human being as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the land.
