Then Zadok’s son Ahimaaz said,“ Let me run to the king with the good news that the Lord has rescued him from his enemies.”

Now Ahimaaz son of Zadok said,“ Let me run and take the news to the king that the Lord has vindicated him by delivering him from the hand of his enemies.”

Ahimaaz, the son of Zadok, said to Joab,“ Let me run and take the news to the king. Let me tell him that the Lord has shown that David is in the right. The Lord has done this by saving David from his enemies.”

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said,“ Let me run and carry news to the king that the Lord has delivered him from the hand of his enemies.”

Ahimaaz son of Zadok said,“ Please let me run and tell the king the good news that the LORD has vindicated him by freeing him from his enemies.”

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said,“ Please let me run and bring the king news that the Lord has freed him from the hand of his enemies!”

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said,“ Let me run now and take the news to the king, how the Lord has avenged him of his enemies.”

Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that Jehovah hath avenged him of his enemies.

Ahimaaz son of Zadok said,“ Please let me run and tell the king the good news that the Lord has delivered him from his enemies.”

Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that the LORD hath avenged him of his enemies.

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said,“ Let me run and give the king the good news that the LORD has vindicated him before his enemies.”

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said,“ Let me now run and carry the king news, how Yahweh has avenged him of his enemies.”

and they will send their sons Ahimaaz and Jonathan to tell me what is going on.”

Then the man from Ethiopia arrived and said,“ I have good news for my lord the king. Today the Lord has rescued you from all those who rebelled against you.”

“ Yes, but let me go anyway,” he begged. Joab finally said,“ All right, go ahead.” So Ahimaaz took the less demanding route by way of the plain and ran to Mahanaim ahead of the Ethiopian.

Jonathan and Ahimaaz had been staying at En rogel so as not to be seen entering and leaving the city. Arrangements had been made for a servant girl to bring them the message they were to take to King David.

For you have judged in my favor; from your throne you have judged with fairness.

The Lord is known for his justice. The wicked are trapped by their own deeds. Quiet Interlude

The Lord judges the nations. Declare me righteous, O Lord, for I am innocent, O Most High!End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God.

But you see the trouble and grief they cause. You take note of it and punish them. The helpless put their trust in you. You defend the orphans.

Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,“ I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.

Arise, O Lord, in anger! Stand up against the fury of my enemies! Wake up, my God, and bring justice!

You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them.

“ The first man runs like Ahimaaz son of Zadok,” the watchman said.“ He is a good man and comes with good news,” the king replied.Then Ahimaaz cried out to the king,“ Everything is all right!” He bowed before the king with his face to the ground and said,“ Praise to the Lord your God, who has handed over the rebels who dared to stand against my lord the king.”“ What about young Absalom?” the king demanded.“ Is he all right?” Ahimaaz replied,“ When Joab told me to come, there was a lot of commotion. But I didn’t know what was happening.”
