Samuel got up early in the morning to meet Saul; and it was reported to Samuel, saying,“ Saul came to Carmel, and behold, he set up a monument for himself, then turned and proceeded on down to Gilgal.”

Then after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh( that is, the King’s Valley).

And to Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter whose name was Tamar; she was a woman of beautiful appearance.

The king began speaking and was saying,‘ Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty?’

And they said,“ Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let’s make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of all the earth.”

May his descendants be eliminated; May their name be wiped out in a following generation.

Therefore it was named Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

Their inner thought is that their houses are forever And their dwelling places to all generations; They have named their lands after their own names.

( Now this man acquired a field with the price of his wickedness, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.And it became known to all the residents of Jerusalem; as a result that field was called Hakeldama in their own language, that is, Field of Blood.)

His roots are dried below, And his branch withers above.The memory of him perishes from the earth, And he has no name abroad.

This is what the Lord says:‘ Write this man down as childless, A man who will not prosper in his days; For no man among his descendants will prosper Sitting on the throne of David Or ruling again in Judah.’ ”
