开口说：“这大巴比伦，难道不是我以自己的权能力量建为国都，为要显出我威严的尊荣吗？”

他们又说：“来吧！让我们为自己建造一座城和一座塔，塔顶通天，好为自己立名，免得我们分散在整个地面上。”

愿他的后代被剪除，他们的名号在下一代被抹掉。

因此那城名叫巴别，因为在那里耶和华变乱了全地人的语言，又从那里把他们分散到整个地面上。

他们以为自己的家必存到永远，他们的住所必存到万代；他们用自己的名字给土地命名。

后来，竟然用这个人不义的酬报买了一块地。犹大一头栽倒在那里，肚腹迸裂，肠子都流出来了。所有住在耶路撒冷的人都知道了这件事，因此那块地按着他们的本地语言被称为“哈克达玛”——这意思是“血田”。
