During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King’s Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought,“ I have no son to carry on the memory of my name.” He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom’s Monument to this day.

Earlier in his life Absalom had set up a pillar in the King’s Valley. He had put it up as a monument to himself. He thought,“ I don’t have a son to carry on the memory of my name.” So he named the pillar after himself. It is still called Absalom’s Monument to this day.

Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up for himself the pillar that is in the King’s Valley, for he said,“ I have no son to keep my name in remembrance.” He called the pillar after his own name, and it is called Absalom’s monument to this day.

撒母耳清早起來，要在早晨去見掃羅；有人告訴撒母耳：“掃羅到了迦密，在那裡為自己立了一座紀念碑，然後轉身下到吉甲去了。”

亞伯蘭擊敗了基大老瑪和與他聯盟的王回來的時候，所多瑪王出來，在沙微谷迎接他。沙微谷就是帝王谷。

押沙龍生了三個兒子，一個女兒。女兒名叫他瑪，是個容貌美麗的女子。

他說：“這大巴比倫城不是我用大能大力建造作我的京都，為顯我威嚴的榮耀嗎？”

他們又說：“來，我們建一座城，造一座塔，塔頂要通天。我們要為自己立名，免得分散在全地上。”

願他的後人被除滅，願他們的名字在下一代被塗抹。

因此，那城的名就叫巴別，因為耶和華在那裡混亂了全地所有的人的語言，又從那裡把他們分散在全地上。

他們心裡想，他們的家必永存，他們的住處必留到萬代；他們以自己的名，稱自己的地方。

他用不義的酬勞買了一塊田，結果倒頭栽了下去，腹破腸流。這事住在耶路撒冷的人全都知道，所以按當地的話，那塊地稱為亞革大馬，意思就是‘血田’。

他下面的根枯乾，上面的枝子凋謝。他令人懷念的都從地上滅沒，他的名字不再留存在田上。

耶和華這樣說：“你們要寫下，這人算為無子，他的一生毫無成就；因為他的後裔中沒有一人可以成功，能坐在大衛的王位上，再次統治猶大。”
