For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they[ be] mighty men, and they[ be] chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father[ is] a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

戶篩說：「你知道，你父親和他的部下都是勇士，他們現在心裡狂怒如野外被奪去幼崽的母熊；況且你父親是個有經驗的戰士，不會與軍兵在一起過夜。

又曰、爾父與其侍從、乃為英武、爾所知也、今其衷懷暴怒、如熊在野、而亡其子、爾父又嫻戰事、必不宿於民中、

You know your father and his men; they are fighters, and as fierce as a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Besides, your father is an experienced fighter; he will not spend the night with the troops.

Hushai said,“ You know that your father and his men are mighty men, and that they are enraged, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. Besides, your father is expert in war; he will not spend the night with the people.

You know your father and his men; they are mighty warriors. Right now they are as enraged as a mother bear who has been robbed of her cubs. And remember that your father is an experienced man of war. He won’t be spending the night among the troops.

Hushai continued,“ You know your father and his men. They are warriors and are desperate like a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Your father is an experienced soldier who won’t spend the night with the people.

Then Hushai said,“ You yourself know your father and his men, that they are warriors and they are fierce, like a bear deprived of her cubs in the field. And your father is an expert in warfare, and he will not spend the night with the people.

For,” said Hushai,“ you know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are enraged in their minds, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field; and your father is a man of war, and will not camp with the people.

Hushai said moreover, Thou knowest thy father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field; and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

Hushai continued,“ You know your father and his men. They are warriors and are desperate like a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Your father is an experienced soldier who won’t spend the night with the people.

Hushai went on to say,“ You know your father and his men– they are soldiers and are as dangerous as a bear out in the wild that has been robbed of her cubs. Your father is an experienced soldier; he will not stay overnight with the army.

Hushai said moreover,“ You know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are fierce in their minds, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. Your father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

I will meet them as a bear[ that is] bereaved[ of her whelps], and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.

Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite,[ that is] cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD[ is] with him.

And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and[ of] Barak, and[ of] Samson, and[ of] Jephthae;[ of] David also, and Samuel, and[ of] the prophets:Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and[ it had] three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.

And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which[ was] of the sons of the giant.And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew[ the brother of] Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear[ was] like a weaver’s beam.And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of[ great] stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

[ As] a roaring lion, and a ranging bear;[ so is] a wicked ruler over the poor people.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.These[ things] did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.

And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that[ was] by the gate, and took[ it], and brought[ it] to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.

And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered[ it] out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught[ him] by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred,[ and] slew[ them], and had the name among three.
