戶篩說：「你知道，你父親和他的部下都是勇士，他們現在心裡狂怒如野外被奪去幼崽的母熊；況且你父親是個有經驗的戰士，不會與軍兵在一起過夜。

户筛又说：“你知道，你父亲和跟随他的人都是勇士，现在他们心里恼怒，如同田野丢崽子的母熊一般，而且你父亲是个战士，必不和民一同住宿。

户筛又说：“你知道，你父亲和他的人都是勇士，他们心里恼怒，如同田野中失去小熊的母熊一样；而且你父亲是个战士，必不和百姓一同住宿。

户筛又说：“你知道你父亲和那些跟随他的人都是勇士；他们心里正在恼怒，好像野地里丧子的母熊一样；并且你父亲是个战士，必不会与众人在一起住宿。

戶篩又說：「你知道，你父親和跟隨他的人都是勇士，現在他們心裏惱怒，如同田野丟崽子的母熊一般，而且你父親是個戰士，必不和民一同住宿。

You know your father and his men; they are fighters, and as fierce as a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Besides, your father is an experienced fighter; he will not spend the night with the troops.

Hushai said,“ You know that your father and his men are mighty men, and that they are enraged, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. Besides, your father is expert in war; he will not spend the night with the people.

You know your father and his men; they are mighty warriors. Right now they are as enraged as a mother bear who has been robbed of her cubs. And remember that your father is an experienced man of war. He won’t be spending the night among the troops.

Hushai continued,“ You know your father and his men. They are warriors and are desperate like a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Your father is an experienced soldier who won’t spend the night with the people.

Then Hushai said,“ You yourself know your father and his men, that they are warriors and they are fierce, like a bear deprived of her cubs in the field. And your father is an expert in warfare, and he will not spend the night with the people.

For,” said Hushai,“ you know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are enraged in their minds, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field; and your father is a man of war, and will not camp with the people.

Hushai said moreover, Thou knowest thy father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field; and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

Hushai continued,“ You know your father and his men. They are warriors and are desperate like a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Your father is an experienced soldier who won’t spend the night with the people.

For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they[ be] mighty men, and they[ be] chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father[ is] a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

Hushai went on to say,“ You know your father and his men– they are soldiers and are as dangerous as a bear out in the wild that has been robbed of her cubs. Your father is an experienced soldier; he will not stay overnight with the army.

Hushai said moreover,“ You know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are fierce in their minds, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. Your father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

我還要再說什麼呢？如果我一一述說基甸、巴拉克、叄孫、耶弗達、大衛、撒母耳和先知們的事，時間就不夠了。他們藉著信，征服了列國，行了公義，獲得了那些應許；他們堵住了獅子的口，滅了烈火的威力，逃脫了刀劍的鋒刃，從軟弱中得以剛強，在戰爭中得以強大，擊敗了外國的軍隊。

「看哪，有另一隻獸，就是第二隻，彷彿一隻熊！牠用一側站立，口中的牙齒之間有三根肋骨；有話對牠這樣說：『起來，吞吃大量的肉！』

寧可遇見被奪去幼崽的母熊，也不要遇見行在愚妄中的愚昧人。

此後，以色列人與非利士人在格伯又有戰爭。戶沙人西比凱擊殺了巨人的後裔撒弗。他們與非利士人在格伯又有戰爭。伯利恆人雅雷俄珥金的兒子伊勒哈南擊殺了迦特人歌利亞，這人長矛的杆像織布的機軸那樣粗。在迦特又有戰爭。有一個身材高大的人，手腳各有六個指頭，總共二十四個，他也是巨人的後裔。他向以色列罵陣，大衛的哥哥示米亞的兒子約拿單把他擊殺了。這四個人都是迦特巨人的後裔，倒在大衛和他臣僕們手下。

邪惡的管轄者統治貧弱的民眾，就如咆哮的獅子、猛衝的熊。

你們要查清他躲藏的所有地方，確定後回來見我，我就與你們一同去。如果他在那地方，我就把他從猶大的千家萬戶中搜出來。」

以下是大衛的勇士們的名字：塔克莫尼人約設巴設，是眾軍官之首；他曾揮動長矛對敵，一次擊殺了八百人。其次是阿赫阿人朵多的兒子以利亞撒。他是跟隨大衛向非利士人罵陣的三勇士之一。當時非利士人聚集在那裡要打仗，以色列人撤退，

這樣大衛用投石索和石頭勝了那非利士人。大衛手中沒有刀，卻擊倒了那非利士人，殺了他。

耶赫亞達的兒子比納雅，是來自甲薛的勇士，也有許多事蹟。他曾擊殺了摩押的兩個英雄，也曾在下雪的日子，下到坑裡殺了一隻獅子。他還擊殺了一個埃及人，是個身材健壯的人；這埃及人手中有長矛，比納雅卻拿著杖下去與他對敵，從埃及人手中搶奪了長矛，用那長矛把他殺了。這些是耶赫亞達的兒子比納雅的事蹟，他和那三勇士一樣有名。

所有的臣僕都從他身邊過去，所有的基利提人、比利提人、迦特人，就是從迦特來跟隨他的六百個人，都從王面前過去。

那三勇士就突破非利士人的防營，從伯利恆城門旁的水窖裡打水，提上來帶回大衛那裡。但大衛不肯喝，而是把水澆奠在耶和華面前，

大衛對掃羅說：「你的僕人是為父親牧羊的，當獅子或熊過來，從畜群中叼走一隻羔羊時，我就出去追趕牠，攻擊牠，把羊從牠口中解救出來。牠起來攻擊我，我就揪住牠的鬍鬚，擊打牠，把牠殺死。無論獅子還是熊，你的僕人都擊殺過。這未受割禮的非利士人也必像牠們中的一個，因為他辱罵永生神的軍隊。」

洗魯雅的兒子約押的弟弟亞比篩，是三十勇士之首；他曾揮動長矛殺了三百人，所以和那三勇士一樣出名。
