When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and Makir son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim

David came to Mahanaim. Shobi, the son of Nahash, met him there. Shobi was from Rabbah in the land of Ammon. Makir, the son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, met him there too. So did Barzillai from Rogelim in the land of Gilead.

When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim,

When David arrived at Mahanaim, he was warmly greeted by Shobi son of Nahash, who came from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and by Makir son of Ammiel from Lo debar, and by Barzillai of Gilead from Rogelim.

王說：『他在哪裏？』洗巴對王說：『他在羅底巴亞米利的兒子瑪吉家裏。』

基列人巴西萊的眾子呢、你要以厚愛待他們，使他們列在你席上喫飯者中間，因為我躲避你哥哥押沙龍的時候，他們是這樣忠愛地來迎接我。

祭司子孫中有哈巴雅的子孫、哈哥斯的子孫、巴西萊的子孫（巴西萊娶了基列人巴西萊的一個女兒做妻子，因此他名叫巴西萊）。

大約過了一個月，亞捫人拿轄上來，紮營圍困基列雅比；雅比人對拿轄說：『你和我們立約，我們就服事你。』

約押攻打亞捫人的拉巴，攻取了王城。

於是大衛聚集所有的兵眾，往拉巴去、攻打那城，攻取了它。大衛從米勒公神頭上奪取了米勒公的冠冕，上頭的金子重有一擔，又有一塊寶石；（這寶石、是在大衛頭上的那一塊）；大衛把那城被掠之物搬出來、非常之多。

基列人巴西萊從羅基琳下來，跟王走到約但河，要在約但河邊給王送行。巴西萊非常老邁，已經八十歲。王住在瑪哈念的時候，是他供養王的：因為他是個極大的財主。王對巴西萊說：『你和我一同過去，我要在耶路撒冷供養你和我在一起。』巴西萊對王說：『我活着的年日還能有多少、可讓我跟王同上耶路撒冷呢？我今年八十歲了；還能曉得辨別好壞麼？你僕人還能嘗出所喫所喝的滋味麼？還曉得聽男女歌唱者的聲音麼？僕人何必再做我主我王的累贅呢？僕人只要跟王走一小段路到約但河；王何必將這報償賞報我呢？請准僕人回去，我好死在本城，在我父母墓旁。看哪，你僕人金罕在這裏呢；讓他同我主我王過去；你看怎麼好，就怎麼待他吧。王說：『金罕要跟我一同過去；我呢、你看怎麼好，我就怎麼待他；凡你所抉擇要我作的，我總要為你作。』於是眾民都過約但河，王卻站着；王和巴西萊親嘴，給他祝福；巴西萊就回自己地方去了。
