David came to Mahanaim. Shobi, the son of Nahash, met him there. Shobi was from Rabbah in the land of Ammon. Makir, the son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, met him there too. So did Barzillai from Rogelim in the land of Gilead.

When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim,

When David arrived at Mahanaim, he was warmly greeted by Shobi son of Nahash, who came from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and by Makir son of Ammiel from Lo debar, and by Barzillai of Gilead from Rogelim.

此後，亞捫人的王死了，他兒子哈嫩接續他作王。大衛說：「我要照哈嫩的父親拿轄厚待我的恩典厚待哈嫩。」於是大衛差遣臣僕，為他喪父安慰他。大衛的臣僕到了亞捫人的境內。

王說：「他在哪裏？」洗巴對王說：「他在羅‧底巴，亞米利的兒子瑪吉家裏。」

你當恩待基列人巴西萊的眾子，使他們常與你同席吃飯；因為我躲避你哥哥押沙龍的時候，他們拿食物來迎接我。

祭司中，哈巴雅的子孫、哈哥斯的子孫、巴西萊的子孫；因為他們的先祖娶了基列人巴西萊的女兒為妻，所以起名叫巴西萊。

亞捫人的王拿轄上來，對着基列‧雅比安營。雅比眾人對拿轄說：「你與我們立約，我們就服事你。」

約押攻取亞捫人的京城拉巴。

於是大衛聚集眾軍，往拉巴去攻城，就取了這城，奪了亞捫人之王所戴的金冠冕，其上的金子重一他連得，又嵌着寶石。人將這冠冕戴在大衛頭上。大衛從城裏奪了許多財物，

基列人巴西萊從羅基琳下來，要送王過約旦河，就與王一同過了約旦河。巴西萊年紀老邁，已經八十歲了。王住在瑪哈念的時候，他就拿食物來供給王；他原是大富戶。王對巴西萊說：「你與我同去，我要在耶路撒冷那裏養你的老。」巴西萊對王說：「我在世的年日還能有多少，使我與王同上耶路撒冷呢？僕人現在八十歲了，還能嘗出飲食的滋味、辨別美惡嗎？還能聽男女歌唱的聲音嗎？僕人何必累贅我主我王呢？僕人只要送王過約旦河，王何必賜我這樣的恩典呢？求你准我回去，好死在我本城，葬在我父母的墓旁。這裏有王的僕人金罕，讓他同我主我王過去，可以隨意待他。」王說：「金罕可以與我同去，我必照你的心願待他。你向我求甚麼，我都必為你成就。」於是眾民過約旦河，王也過去。王與巴西萊親嘴，為他祝福，巴西萊就回本地去了。
