猶大把銀錢丟在聖所裡就退了出來，去上吊自殺了。

押沙龍獻祭的時候，派人去把大衛的謀士基羅人亞希多弗從他的本城基羅請了來。於是謀反勢力強大起來，擁護押沙龍的民眾越來越多。

有人向大衛報告說：「亞希多弗也在叛黨中，隨從押沙龍。」大衛就禱告：「耶和華啊，求你使亞希多弗的謀略變為愚拙！」

人的愚妄傾覆自己的道路，他的心卻對耶和華惱怒。

神哪，求你使他們承擔罪責！願他們因自己的計謀而跌倒；求你因他們眾多的過犯驅趕他們，因為他們悖逆了你。

掃羅對替他拿兵器的說：「拔出你的刀來，把我刺死！免得這些未受割禮的人來刺死我，折辱我。」但拿兵器的不肯，因為他極其害怕。於是掃羅拿起刀，伏在刀上。替他拿兵器的看見掃羅死了，也伏在自己的刀上，隨掃羅一起死了。

破敗以先，必有驕傲；絆跌之前，靈裡高慢。

神哪，你必使惡人下到滅亡的深坑裡！那些殺人流血、行詭詐的人，必活不過半生；至於我，我要依靠你。
