When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb.

押沙龍獻祭的時候，還派人去把大衛的謀士亞希多弗從他的故鄉基羅請來。反叛的勢力大增，擁護押沙龍的民眾越來越多。

那些天，希西迦病危，亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞先知前來對他說：「耶和華說，『你要交待後事，因為你要死了，你的病不能康復。』」

有人告訴大衛，亞希多弗也叛變，投奔了押沙龍，大衛就禱告說：「耶和華啊，求你使亞希多弗的謀算都變得愚不可及。」

心利見城被攻破，就走進王宮的城堡中放火燒宮，自焚而死。

人因愚昧而自毀前程，他的心卻抱怨耶和華。

上帝啊，求你定他們的罪，讓他們作繭自縛。他們背叛你，罪惡深重，求你把他們趕走。

就對為他拿兵器的人說：「拔出你的刀來刺死我吧，免得那些未受割禮的人來刺殺和凌辱我。」但拿兵器的人非常害怕，不敢動手，掃羅就自己伏刀自盡了。侍從看見掃羅已死，也伏刀自盡了。

豈不是降災難給不義之人，降禍患給作惡的人？

驕橫是淪亡的前奏，狂傲是敗落的預兆。

上帝啊，你必把惡人送進滅亡的坑裡。嗜血成性的騙子必早早夭亡。但我要信靠你。
