則人雖驍勇、心猛如獅、必喪厥膽、蓋以色列族咸知爾父英武、從者亦驍勇、

於是稱英武、猛若獅者、風聞乎此、必喪其膽、蓋以色列族皆知爾父為豪傑、侍從亦英武。

雖勇敢膽壯如獅者亦必心怯、蓋以色列人皆知爾父為英雄、從之者亦皆勇士、

Then even the bravest soldier, whose heart is like the heart of a lion, will melt with fear, for all Israel knows that your father is a fighter and that those with him are brave.

Then, even a brave man with the heart of a lion will melt because all Israel knows that your father and the valiant men with him are warriors.

She said to the men,“ I know the LORD is handing this land over to you. Benaiah son of Jehoida was a brave warrior from Kabzeel who performed great exploits. He struck down the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in a cistern on a snowy day.

What is going to happen to us? Our brothers have drained away our courage by describing people who are more numerous and taller than we are, and great cities whose defenses appear to be as high as heaven itself! Moreover, they said they saw Anakites there.”

The wicked person flees when there is no one pursuing, but the righteous person is as confident as a lion.
