One day Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Here’s what I suggest. Choose 12,000 men. Start out tonight and go after David.

Their feet rush into sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. They pursue evil schemes; acts of violence mark their ways.The way of peace they do not know; there is no justice in their paths. They have turned them into crooked roads; no one who walks along them will know peace.

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

For they cannot rest until they do evil; they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.
